Meet the breeder

I'm Leah W., the breeder behind Moirae Poodles located in Salem Township, ME. I am a standard poodle enthusiast who occasionally produces litters of genetically diverse, fully health tested smaller standards/moyens. The majority of my poodles are altered pets and all of them are members of the family.

Q. & A. with Leah

  • Why did you start breeding?

My first standard poodle was from an unethical breeder who didn't health test or breed to improve. He became blind by 1 year old from PRA and has multiple other life threatening issues. The suffering he goes through has inspired me to Breed health tested poodles with good structure to work on improving the breed.
  • What makes your program special?

All of my program dogs are inter- variety meaning they're genetically diverse and slightly smaller than your average standard poodle. Dogs with a lower coefficient of inbreeding will generally be less prone to autoimmune diseases and cancer.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are moyen size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black, blue, cream, silver, and parti. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Leah was wonderful from start to finish! She was responsive and patient with with me as I asked a million questions over the course of two months. She also raised a wonderful puppy with the sweetest temperament. We can’t believe how lucky we got with Franky (now Remy)!

I had a great experience with Leah. She responded right away, and was very helpful with the process of getting my Eevee home. She came all the way from Maine to our home in Massachusetts to deliver our beautiful little girl. We are very happy with her and love her very much. After thinking about several different names, we decided Eevee was the perfect name for her after all. It suits her perfectly! Now her formal name is Eevening! :) Thank you, Leah.

We had a great experience with Leah! She knows a lot about poodles and was easy to work with. We were impressed with the parents of the litter. Prior to choosing a puppy, we had a video call with Leah with several potential puppies and the dad dog. We also saw videos of the mom. The parents have great personalities and so does our puppy! He is so sweet, inquisitive, and friendly. He is still young, but catching on nicely to house training and manners. We are really happy with our puppy and would defiinitely recommend Leah as a breeder!

We found Leah through the AKC website. We had been looking at dogs on and off for months and hasn't clicked with anything. When I came across her page and went over to good dog I took one look at her pictures she had up of the puppies and I knew we had to have one. Leah was very quick to respond to my inquiry and was extremely knowledgeable on the breed and had so much to share about her dogs and their temperaments. Anytime I had a question Leah was always quick to respond before and after we took our pup home. Our puppy has grown up and has become a prominent fixture in our home.
