Meet the breeder

I'm Julia A., the breeder behind Montana Made Frenchies located in Billings, MT. We are a small in home program that focuses on health, temperament and structure.

Q. & A. with Julia

  • Why did you start breeding?

I first got into breeding years ago with pitbulls. I took A long break from breeding when I had kids. A couple years ago a local breeder had frenchies and I fell In love with the breed. The philosophy of breeding frenchies for health and temperament was something that drew me to wanting to breed and continue offering this amazing breed to families.
  • What makes your program special?

Our focus on health temperament amd structure with a touch of color sets us apart. We health test and OFA certify all of our dogs in our breeding program.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include brindle, fawn, tricolors, blue, black and tan, and blue fawn. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Great level

Montana Made Frenchies reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for French Bulldogs.

  • Hip Dysplasia

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Spine (OFA, FCI)

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Animal Genetics Panel, DNA Disease Panel

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
