Meet the breeder

I'm Jen H., the breeder behind Moon Phase Kennel located in Sheridan, CA. Our goal is to ensure every dog that comes from our program is set up to live a happy and healthy life and is prepared for its future role when it leaves our care. We provide each of our pups with lots of socialization and love, and we are dedicated to maintaining responsible breeding policies.

Q. & A. with Jen

  • Why did you start breeding?

Started show breeding Papillions 10 years ago and grew a love for Miniature American Shepherds in which I have started and built our Kennel. We take part in conformation breeding and will be venturing into rally and agility.
  • What makes your program special?

Our kennel focuses on excellent temperament, health and structure. We aim to produce puppies within breed standards. We use Puppy Culture program to produce well adjusted/socialized puppies for their prospective families. We implement a half raw/half kibble diet for our adults. Our dogs are a part of our family and are treated like family.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black and blue merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Such a great experience! Jen was really great about sharing information, photos, videos, and tips. She had the most amazing puppy welcome bag and plenty of advice. She clearly loves these pups. Our new four legged family member has settled in great, he is so smart and sweet.
