I'm Rebecca H., the breeder behind Moonshine Kennels AZ located in Phoenix, AZ. We are hobby breeders of AKC Standard Poodles. We breed our dogs for health, temperament, and intelligence. Our goal is to create well-rounded future pets, family members and service dogs. We are committed to going the extra mile in order to provide the foundational care necessary to prepare each puppy to thrive in their future homes. Our breeding dogs are health tested and have been selected because their temperaments embody the best of what this wonderful breed of dog has to offer.

Program update on 21 June 2025 •…Introducing Lagertha 9-month-old red tuxedo Standard Poodle From our Isabel × Swagger litter She may be on the smaller side of the Standard scale, but Lagertha has big energy. She’s affectionate, outgoing, and truly the life of the party. She’s already shown a natural aptitude for agility and is always eager to learn and explore. Pending the results of her health testing, we hope to welcome her into our future breeding program. Program update on 18 June 2025 •…Exciting news! Sadie and Swayze had three successful breedings, and we’re hopeful for a beautiful litter arriving at the end of July! ✨🐩 Both parents are exceptional Standard Poodles with wonderful temperaments and extensive health testing. We can’t wait to see what this pairing brings! Stay tuned for updates—we’ll confirm the pregnancy with an ultrasound in a few weeks!

Litter update on 18 Mar 2025 •…If you’re looking for a new best friend, Rye could be the perfect match! This affectionate and intelligent 6-month-old standard poodle is a truly special dog. He is very person-centered and does great with other dogs and children. He is wonderful on a leash and has proven to be an incredibly quick learner during training. His best quality by far is his loving nature.

About Sadie
Sadie is a beautiful contradiction—graceful and elegant on the outside, with a goofy, lighthearted spirit that keeps us smiling every day. She moves with poise but isn’t above a good zoomie or leaning into you for a cuddle with those expressive eyes. She’s incredibly social, getting along effortlessly with other dogs and people alike. Sadie also has a sharp mind and strong working instincts—she’s naturally gifted at scenting and shines in agility, always eager to engage and learn. What makes Sadie truly special, though, is her deep emotional intelligence. She has an uncanny ability to pick up on human feelings, and if someone is feeling down, anxious, or unwell, she intuitively offers comfort—staying close, offering affection, and quietly keeping watch. She’s not just a wonderful companion—she’s a dog with heart, empathy, and soul.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

I had been searching for a poodle for months putting in adoption applications and looking at breeder websites. I put in 7 applications and to date never getting a response. The 8th was the charm. I submitted an inquiry through Good Dog and Rebecca responded within hours. We had a video chat allowing all the family to be included 2 days after the initial inquiry, and on the 3rd day, I picked up Fern. Rebecca was warm and showed true affection towards him. We have kept in touch this first week, and I have shared pictures. Fern has fit right in with my adult children and other fur babies.

We had a great experience adopting our poodle puppy from Rebecca. She made herself available for a call beforehand wherein she was more than happy to answer all of the questions we had as first time prospective dog owners. She provided full Embark genetic profiles for each parent, as well as health testing for the maladies common to the poodle breed. When we arrived for the adoption, Rebecca was kind, patient, and accommodating. She allowed us ample time to visit with each pup and get a feel for their personalities in person. We were happy to also have a chance to meet and interact with their mother as well. Rebecca was a pleasure to work with, and made it abundantly clear that she would continue to be available to us as a resource as we navigate the challenges of puppyhood. She was extremely thoughtful to send us home with food, potty pads, stuffed animals, a leash, a bell collar, and all pertinent documentation related to our puppy’s health. Overall, we highly recommend Rebecca as a breeder, and we would definitely utilize her services again in the future!
