I'm Sara S., the breeder behind Mulberry Retrievers located in North Pole, AK. Our family at Mulberry Retrievers raises healthy, social & friendly Golden Retrievers & Labrador Retrievers. Our dogs are bred from health-tested parents, come with a health warranty, lots of socialization, & lifetime support. We have been breeding for over a decade & have many repeat customers and over 30 working service dogs from our program.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    Sara’s love for Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers began at a young age and grew into a passion for preserving these remarkable breeds. Our goal is to provide families with thoughtfully bred, health-tested companions known for their predictable temperament, sound structure, and lifelong companionship.

  • What makes your program special?

    Our dogs are first and foremost beloved family members. They compete in AKC events, enjoy Alaska’s outdoors, and are carefully health tested before any breeding decisions are made. Puppies are raised in our home with purposeful socialization, enrichment, and a commitment to lifelong support for every family.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our Labrador Retriever puppies include black and yellow. Golden Retriever puppies include dark golden, golden, and light golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Sara

Sara has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Sara partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 7 weeks old.

“We strongly believe that family should have a say in choosing the puppy that best fits their family. Choice of a puppy is based on the order that deposits are placed to allow us to be as fair as possible, and we give regular updates and insight as the puppies grow to help match families with the best fitting puppy for their home.”

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit. The remaining $2,000 - $3,000 is due at pickup, before taxes & fees.

“Our pricing applies to all pups, we don't change prices for different parents, colors or sex-we invest the same hard work, time, and love for all of our puppies. AKC/microchip registration included. We require a deposit of $500 to reserve a puppy which goes toward the total purchase price. Deposits are transferrable but not refundable.”

Sara may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.   • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

    We had a wonderful experience with Sara. Our new puppy, Benny (previously Scout) is everything we could have hoped for. Sara was always quick to respond when I had questions and frequently posted photo and video updates. Their family was kind enough to transport him 6+ hours for us and made the process as easy as possible. Our puppy has been very well mannered and doing great with our kids and other dog (2 year old beagle we recently rescued). He sleeps well, eats well, and we adore him.
