I'm Darice V., the breeder behind My Regal Bolognese located in San Antonio, TX. I raise several litters per year. I also love educating potential puppy owners on how to properly care for their “little fluffy white companions.” Most of all, I am passionate about expanding and preserving the Bolognese breed. It is, from my perspective, a nearly perfect dog.
Q. & A. with Darice
Why did you start breeding?
I missed caring for NICU patients, and that, along with my love for animals and the Bolognese breed just naturally lead to my becoming a breeder. It is important to me that the Bolognese breed is preserved and not allowed to become extinct.
What makes your program special?
All of my dogs are raised in family homes (I have several dogs in guardian homes.) I supervise the care, grooming, feeding, and breeding, whelping and raising of the dogs and puppies. I research pedigrees before breeding and health test all breeding dogs annually. I try to match the puppy with the family to assure that they are a good match.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Chanel
Chanel is a wonderful mother. This is her third litter. She is the sweetest girl, very easy going and affectionate with a silly side. She has a marvelous coat, and has won Best in Show at a local dog show. Her puppies all look a lot like her, and have her very distinctive "Woof" when they bark!
Sofia, mom
Bolognese
About Sofia
Sofia is very calm and not at all dramatic! She has a very soft bark but doesn't get upset enough to bark very often. She is from one of our earlier litters and has had four litters of beautiful, healthy puppies. She will be retiring after this litter.

Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
My Regal Bolognese reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Bologneses.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Brucellosis
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
