I'm Karla W., the breeder behind Nikaluk Siberians located in Louisiana. We're a small show and performance kennel located in Lake Charles, LA, just a few minutes east of the Texas/Louisiana border on I-10. We’ve built a top-quality breeding program focusing on superior physical soundness, health, structure and movement, as well as pleasant temperament..
Q. & A. with Karla
Why did you start breeding?
I got my first show dog, Sunny, in 2001. While he didn't earn his championship, he did earn some performance titles (rally and obedience) and got me started in the dog show world. He was followed by Ella, a beautiful girl who was my first show champion. After getting her championship, she was bred and produced my first litter. It's been nearly 20 years since then, and I've bred several litters since.
What makes your program special?
I strive with every litter to make sure that each puppy is well socialized and healthy. Having them fit well into a loving home is far more important to me than whether or not they ever see a show ring. No matter what their future holds — show, performance, pet therapy or just providing companionship around the house — my goal is that each puppy has a wonderful life with a family that loves them and is well pleased with them.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
