I'm Jennifer G., the breeder behind Nor'easter located in Setauket, NY. We carefully plan our litters and breed for sound health and temperament, and perform all recommended health testing on our breeding stock prior to breeding.

Why did you start breeding?
We show and breed our dogs. Show quality puppies stay at Nor’easter, where they will complete their AKC Championship prior to their own role in our breeding program. Puppies, and occasionally adult dogs, who might not excel in the show ring are sold to approved homes, with a health guarantee and contract.What makes your program special?
We are committed to our dogs for their lifetime, so our breeding program stresses quality, not quantity. On average, we breed one litter per year, and we do not keep a ‘waiting list’ unless we have a breeding planned, an expectant mother, or a litter of puppies ‘on the ground’. If we don’t anticipate having a dog or puppy available for your family, we would be happy to make referrals to other reputable breeders throughout the US.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Musladin-Leuke Syndrome (MLS), Full Embark Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
