I'm Michele H., the breeder behind North Coast Retrievers located in Fortuna, CA. I offer top-quality Retriever puppies for families who share the same love and passion that I do for these lovely companions. I love being a breeder. It's so fulfilling to see the positive effect that a beloved, furry companion can have on its family. However, I've also experienced owning dogs that had bad genetics, which caused them to endure difficult illnesses that ultimately cost them their lives and broke our hearts. I vow to make sure we breed healthy puppies from healthy parents so you and your best friend have many happy years together. I look forward to connecting you with your new pup!

Why did you start breeding?
Each of my dogs has brought so much happiness to me throughout their lives. Unfortunately, I also owned a couple that had terrible genetics we knew nothing about until their illnesses shortened their lives and devastated our family. I want to do my part to produce wonderful, healthy dogs that can bring other people joy, and by genetically testing our parents we can do our part to provide each of my puppies with long, happy lives.What makes your program special?
Before our puppies are ever conceived, we genetically test the potential parents for a full comprehensive panel using UC Davis Veterinary Labs, the country's premiere veterinary laboratory. Our highest priority is producing a healthy puppy so that they live long, happy lives and give you years of enjoyment. In order to give my puppies the best start to their lives, I begin puppy socialization while they are with me, and I am careful to provide a healthy environment in which they can thrive. My dogs work hard, play hard, love hard, and are part of the family. I prepare all of my pups to thrive in their new forever homes!Where do your breeding dogs live?

Price
"The price of $1,800 is for Labrador retriever puppies, the price of $2,500 is for golden retriever puppies. Both are regardless whether they are male or female. Price includes full AKC registration application with full breeding rights. If you want a specific puppy held for you until it is old enough to go home with you then you must place a minimum deposit of $200. A deposit can be rolled onto another litter if you can't pick up your currently held pup for a reason you can discuss with the breeder."

About Dude
The Dude abides. He is a tall, lanky goof ball and loves to play. He is masculine but sweet, good with our females and is gentle with children. He loves everyone and is eager to go for a ride, chase a ball, splash through some water or snuggle up for pets. He is the perfect family dog.

Holly comes from a long line of service dogs and is eternally happy. She is sweet and gentle, and playful but not spastic. She is all girl with a child-like happiness. She is never sad and is equally ready for play time or snuggles. She loves to carry around a soft toy and is the easiest leash walker we have ever had. No pulling or hyperactivity, just smiles. An eternal optimist, Holly is everyone's best friend.

Arya is a velvety soft petit lady. She likes attention but is not demanding. She has a beautiful wide head and shorter snout and is the very picture of American Labrador confirmation. She is a pin-up girl without the arrogance. She is lighter weight and loves to snuggle up next to you and lean in for some pets and scritches. She's soft and supple and oh so feminine. Out with the dogs she can hold her own, but with the people she is a tender heart. Arya is the beauty queen of our bunch.

Lucy is an athlete with a capital A. Her sire is an AKC Junior Hunter and AKC Community Canine. She is a tightly packed brick of solid muscle and man, can she perform! If you're looking for a hunter, this is your go-to mama. The instinctual force is strong with this one. She has a solid physique with a thick neck and stout shoulders. This girl is muscle, strength and mad skill. She loves the water and she is ready to go. She is our fastest, strongest, most serious, and most talented fur baby- even against the male. This girl is all business. She's a workaholic in the field but loves her plush toys and belly rubs at home. She is a hunter's dream and my personal side-kick.

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
