Hi everyone! I've had several people ask for our recommendations for all things puppy. I'll post everything below. If you have any questions or need help, shoot me a text or message on here. 😁 1. Food- We feed all of our puppies a mix of Purina Pro Plan large breed and diamond puppy food. You can pick up a bag of either, they do not need both. We mix them to accommodate everyonrs budget as ProPlan is priced a bit higher than the diamond food. 2. Supplement- All our adult dogs are on NuVet multivitamin, we also start giving the puppies these at 6 weeks old to "fill the nutritional gap" as they wean off their mom's milk and fully onto kibble. I've used it for the last 6 years and really like it, it's not sold in stores and is only available on their website. They have free shipping!! I really recommend that they are kept on this for at least the first 2 years as they grow and mature. Puppies must be kept on it for the 1st year per our health contract (if they are not, the guarantee can not be utilized if needed) http://www.nuvet.com/187737 3. Sleeping- I recommend crate training as this is the safest thing for your pup when you aren't home (plus it trains them to be OK with the crate if they ever need to be in one during an emergency or vet trip). We introduce the crate at 5 weeks old. 4. Potty- I introduce a litterbox with Pine pellet bedding (sold for horses/goats at any feed store dor around $8 a bag) at 5 weeks old. This makes potty training much easier. If you pick up a bag, you will just have to put a small pile outside where you want your puppy to go to the bathroom, and they will recognize the scent and go there. We do not introduce Potty pads as they can be a choking hazard and are messy. 5. Pet Insurance- All puppies come with 30 days of free insurance through trupanion, I will automatically enroll everyone the night before their puppies go home. I will need your email, address, phone number, and full name. Please send this to me asap. We require ALL puppies to have insurance, at a minimum 80% coverage, for the first year of their life or the health guarantee is forfeited (there are no exceptions). I absolutely LOVE HealthyPaws, they're locally based (in bellevue) and have been fantastic to me for the last 8 years. Trupanion is another good company. There are perks to both so please do research to what suits your lifestyle and budget better 😊 6. Toys- Pups are introduced to toys at 5 weeks and they LOVE them! I recommend having lots on hand. A favorite has always been kongs stuffed with peanut butter and then froze. It keeps their little minds busy. Lick mats and puzzle feeders are also good for this! 🙂
