I'm Nathaniel S., the breeder behind Painters Lane Livestock located in Latrobe, PA. Springer Spaniel puppies ready to go to their forever homes. Their dam, underwent physical and genetic testing prior to breeding. Smudge is trained for hunting pheasants and is great with flushing birds. She has also been an excellent house pet for our family. The puppies have been well socialized.

Why did you start breeding?
Smudge has been a great family and hunting dog so we want to create more of her line for future generations to come.What makes your program special?
I have a father, brother and mother in law that are all veterinarians. I am a geneticist and my wife is an NP so health and genetics are very important to all our breeding decisions.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are liver and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

“Price reflects the health and genetic testing. AKC registered lines and come with first round of vaccines and deworming. They have also had their declaws cut and tails docked under veterinary care. All puppies are the same price to reflect the value and thought we put into this breeding decision.”

Parent health testing

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
