I'm Leisa R., the breeder behind Plateau Family Poodles located in Crossville, TN. We offer healthy puppies that are birthed and cared for in our home. Our dogs and puppies are our pride and joy! Our primary goal is to breed healthy Poodles. We care so much about each of our dogs and make sure to find our puppies the perfect families and individuals with lifestyles that will complement this amazing breed.
Q. & A. with Leisa
Why did you start breeding?
We knew it was time for a new family pet. From the time I was little there was seldom a time in my life that I did not have a family dog.
We talked to our vet a.k.a our middle child. After much discussion about breeds, it became clear that Standard Poodles are THE BEST all around breed and we wanted to make them popular again.
Everyone knows they don't shed, but they have so much more going for them.
They are recognized as the 2nd smartest dog breed of all so naturally that makes them very easy to train.
We have two from our "family" that are going back to their roots as retrievers. They continue to be calm, loving and cuddly while they train to retrieve water fowl.
Even as a young pup, our momma dog attached herself to my elderly mom as a sort of therapy dog.
And don't forget, there hair is fun to try different styles on.
Everyday we know we made the right choice in Standard Poodles.
What makes your program special?
We are a very small in home breeder. (the first puppy from this litter was born in our bed, oops)
Our momma's health and well being has always taken first priority. We stay right by her while each puppy is born.
The sire also belongs to our family and is well loved and cared for.
Since our vet is a family member, they are checked soon after birth and checked often. Each puppy is loved on several times a day to make sure they are socially ready for a new loving home.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include apricot, cream, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.
