Meet the breeder

I'm Sam V., the breeder behind Plum Valley Pups located in Crete, IL. At Plum Valley Pups, my children and I take great pride in raising well-socialized, loving puppies right in our home. Our puppies are part of our family from day one. We focus on giving them the best possible start in life, exposing them to everyday household sights and sounds, regular car rides, and plenty of human interaction. From an early age, we implement early neurological stimulation (ENS) using the Puppy Culture workbook, which helps develop confident, well-adjusted puppies that thrive in their new homes. Our approach to raising puppies has resulted in exceptional temperaments—our puppy buyers consistently praise how calm, affectionate, and well-mannered their new companions are. Whether they’re snuggling on the couch or exploring new environments, our puppies transition smoothly into their forever homes. We are committed to producing happy, healthy, and well-rounded puppies that bring joy to their families for years to come! Here at Plum Valley Pups we are devoted to the development and well-being of our puppies. We are committed to responsible breeding practices and health test each of our parent dogs. In our home, raising pups is a family affair and we are dedicated to educating our puppies' new families about responsible dog ownership. We are 100% committed to producing healthy, well-tempered, affectionate, and above all - incredibly loved and socialized puppies that will be beloved members of your family for years to come.

Q. & A. with Sam

  • Why did you start breeding?

I began breeding after seeing how much joy and comfort our dogs brought my family. I have two adopted sons with autism, and caring for puppies has been incredibly therapeutic for them. What started as a way to share that healing joy grew into a small, ethical breeding program focused on health, temperament, and love.
  • What makes your program special?

Our program is family-based and hands-on—our puppies grow up in our home, surrounded by love, kids, and everyday life. We focus on health, temperament, and socialization, using DNA testing and personality evaluations. Each puppy is nurtured with purpose and care, preparing them to become confident, loving companions.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our Poodle puppies are miniature size. Bernedoodle puppies are mini size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Poodle puppies include apricot and red. Bernedoodle puppies include yellow and white, red, chocolate merle, brown and white, brown, tri-color, phantom, blue merle, and merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
