I'm the breeder behind Poltava Kennels located in Troy, MI. I am a small hobby kennel that breeds limited number of litters. I offer top-quality, healthy, and genetically tested puppies to loving pet and show homes. I take my job seriously, knowing that my puppies will become someone's beloved pet. Each puppy is considered a member of my family, and I ensure they are socialized, healthy, and prepared to excel in their forever homes. My dogs are bred to the AKC standard and for the loving temperaments that beagles are known for, and I take pride in my breeding program.
Q. & A. with Christina
Why did you start breeding?
I have been involved in dogs from a very young age. I was 2 when my father brought home our first German Shepherd. I purchased my first show bred German Shepherd in 1989. I then purchased by first show bred Golden Retriever in 2006 and first show bred Beagle in 2011. My children showed the Golden Retrievers and Beagles when they were children. I decided to breed Beagles in order to begin my own show line. It is an honor to represent this breed and create opportunities for others to experience the same joy that I've found in raising these wonderful dogs.
What makes your program special?
I wait to breed my females until after they have proven themselves in the show ring. I do everything I can to ensure my puppies have what they need to develop into healthy and happy dogs. In my breeding program, good health and temperament are essential, and cuteness and love is guaranteed.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.

Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Musladin-Leuke Syndrome (MLS)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
