Meet the breeder

I'm Kim C., the breeder behind Prancing Pony Farm Maremma Sheepdogs located in Kings County, CA. We breed and train the best Maremma Sheepdogs in the United States. Our dogs are health-tested, proven working livestock guardians with outstanding conformation and loyal, affectionate temperaments. Our pups come with a 2-year health guarantee and outstanding lifetime professional training support.

Q. & A. with Kim

  • Why did you start breeding?

I got into Maremmas when I bought a farm and needed to keep my animals safe from predators. I was so impressed by my first Maremma that I added more, eventually deciding to breed them to help other farmers keep their animals safe. I decided to pursue a professional education as a Karen Pryor Academy dog trainer and Licensed Family Dog Mediator to better train my Maremmas and support my clients.
  • What makes your program special?

We carefully select breeding stock with superior LGD genetics, sound temperaments, and healthy bodies capable of withstanding the rigors of their important work. What sets our program apart is our comprehensive training and socialization protocol. From birth, our puppies undergo intensive socialization with livestock and people, maximizing their development during critical learning periods.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
