Parent health testing

Precious Kennel Retrievers reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Golden Retrievers.

  • Hip Dysplasia

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Sebaceous Adenitis (SA)

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • DNA Disease Panel, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd)

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

We had a great experience with Angelia from precious kennel, retrievers. We got our sweet Bear from them. He is so adorable and such a good boy! Our family loves him so much. I would highly recommend precious kennel retrievers they know what they’re doing and you get a well rounded dog!

Working with Angelia from Precious Kennel Retrievers was a positive experience start to finish! She’s very knowledgeable and communicated throughout the process, answering all of my questions and providing detailed info that helped me feel more prepared as a new golden retriever puppy owner. Also adding in weekly updates and puppy pictures, which is always something I looked forward to! I appreciated the time she took to make sure the puppies were well socialized and given an excellent start before heading off to their forever homes! Bringing Franklin home was a smooth transition and he fits right into the family. Overall, a wonderful experience!

I do not have much to say, but thank you Angelia, for being part of the blessing and happiness you help bring home. Angelia is very kind, always there for questions, support, and updates about your puppy. She took care and raised a healthy/strong/joyful/energetic and beautiful puppy Me and my family especially the birthday girl couldn't be more thankful with her. If you're looking for first time puppy from a trustworthy breeder I 100% recommend Angelia!

Angelia was great when it came to communication and picture updates. We found our girl Winnie on her page when she was around 4 weeks and received picture/video updates up until we picked her up at 8 weeks. Winnie is a healthy little girl who loves everyone and everything. Not only did we receive personal updates but we could also see how the other pups were doing and interacting on her facebook page! You can also see updates if you follow her on good dog which is also great. With the video updates we were able to see how the puppies act and their behavior before adopting and i think that it was really helpful. Another thing i really liked was the little goody bag we received when we picked our girl up. It came with a few small toys, two bags of kibble, tags with her name, bandana, a little reusable diaper (for traveling) and some more personalized things such as a birth certificate. Overall the process was amazing and I felt comfortable and confident being able to reach out to Angelia whenever I had a question or concern :)
