I'm McKenzie P., the breeder behind Quality Iowa Doodles located in Elkhart, IA. We are a family-based breeding program in Iowa; intentionally raising Bernedoodles w/ exceptional temperaments, beautiful structure, & rich, lasting color. Our puppies are raised right in our home, where they experience daily handling, age-appropriate enrichment, and plenty of love from our family.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    We're a boutique, family-based breeding program located in the heart of Iowa. Our dogs are 1st & foremost cherished members of our family, & every litter is intentionally planned with great care. Rather than focusing on producing large numbers of puppies, we dedicate ourselves to raising a select number of litters so that each puppy receives the individual love, & foundation they deserve.

  • What makes your program special?

    Our breeding philosophy centers on three core principles: health, temperament, & structure. Every breeding decision begins with comprehensive genetic health testing to help reduce the risk of inherited disease while preserving the wonderful qualities that make Bernedoodles such exceptional companions. We also place tremendous value on sound structure and balanced movement.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies are mini size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include grey and white, white, red, sable, black and white, tri-color, and phantom. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from McKenzie

McKenzie has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, McKenzie partners with them to find the best puppy match.

“Once families have been approved through our application or phone interview, they will select their puppy in reservation order beginning at 4 weeks of age. By this stage, coat colors and markings are much more defined, and each puppy's unique personality has begun to shine, allowing families to make a more informed and meaningful choice. This thoughtful approach helps create the best possible match for both our puppies and the families who welcome them home.”

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $2,250 - $3,250 final payment, before taxes & fees.

Quality Iowa Doodles reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Bernedoodles.

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Vet Wellness Exam

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • DNA Disease Panel

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
