Meet the breeder

I'm Randy & Trish E., the breeder behind R & T Farms located in Maryville, TN. We live on a farm surrounded by siblings and our children and grandchildren. Our dogs are exposed to a lot of love and attention. My wife and I are both retired, which enables us to devote the time to show the love and attention that our dogs deserve! The Pembroke Welsh Corgi is intelligent, fun loving, and are easy to train.

Q. & A. with Randy & Trish

  • Why did you start breeding?

When we took Scooter to the vet for the first time as a puppy, our vet told us that he was predominantly Corgi. Scooter passed at the age of 19+. We waited a few years and bought a neutered Corgi. We fell in love again! After a couple of years, we decided to start a breeding program so that other people could enjoy the Corgi personality. We have an ideal place to raise and breed.
  • What makes your program special?

We are just starting out with our breeding program. We bought a female from a reputable breeder that does genetic testing. We went back to that same breeder for stud service from a genetically tested dog. We will be selectively testing our dogs to try and eliminate any undesirable traits.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include white and fawn, fawn, red, sable, and white and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Randy and Trish were the absolute sweetest to work with to get our little Annie home. Randy answered ALL of my many questions and we loved how much they truly and genuinely care for their dogs - even after they leave for their new homes. While they are newer to breeding Corgi's they are truly going about breeding in the most responsible and honest way - and that spoke a lot to us in our process. I would recommend Randy & Trish in a heartbeat to anyone looking for a Pembrooke Welsh Corgi.

Randy and Trish are amazing! We originally requested a visit to meet Magnolia to see if my husbands allergies would tolerate corgi puppies, and Randy reached out super fast and invited us for a visit. We were able to hang out with Magnolia, Randy and Trish and get to know them and get to see if allergies would be an issue. Luckily, allergies were no problem and we decided to get her! Randy and Trish offered to show us her siblings and mom and upon meeting Magnolia's siblings, we were chosen by a different puppy, Daisy; she picked us! So we are now the proud parents of Daisy, who we’ve renamed Melory, or Mel for short :) Talking to Randy and Trish was great! They are welcoming and very knowledgeable about corgis. We learned so much from them and you can tell immediately how much they care for and love their dogs and puppies!

It was a great pleasure for my wife and I to deal with Randy and Trish Evans of R&T Farms, in our recent search for a new fur child. Having been prior Corgi owners of 15 years, we really liked the breed and wanted another. 15 years ago, they were not a very commonly found breed in America, but not today. There are LOTS of folks that are breeding these dogs, asking very high prices, but providing very little, if any information, (other than pictures). Nothing about themselves / service they are providing, or mainly the health background of their breeding parents. Reputable pet parents, especially those offering pups up for sale should have no issues providing all sorts of information on their business as well as the breeding stock. Corgis, as with many breeds have quite a few possible inherited issues. To know all you can before considering owning one of these is a good thing. But so many only see these cute very furry active little buddies, and give no regard to their genetic background. It is no wonder so many corgi owners out there have issues. Randy & Trish are NOT these types of people. They are very much pet people, that are first and foremost responsible pet owners and in this case lovers of the Breed. When searching for our new family member, the first thing that really got my attention was all the information they had readily available on their website. The contact reply was almost instant. Our first contact we spoke for well over 1.5 hours about many aspects of many things, but mostly about the history of their breeding program and the animals they presently have. They are new to breeding Pembroke Welsh Corgis, but are trying as hard as possible to do it ALL the right way. Although they were about 400 miles away, it was no issue with the travel as we also have a home near them. They are out in a very nice farming community outside of Maryville TN. They themselves on a very nice size property where the animals have the ability to be raised in something other than just tiny cages. (have seen lots of that in my day) They have a beautiful overall place, the pens for dogs, clean and well kept. Though most of them were out in the fenced run area itself near a ½+ acre, fully shaded but could be larger if they chose to. The whelping area which was part of their very large basement was clean, well kept, large size and climate controlled, with a very nice adjacent “outside” crawl around exercise area that was also just a fence area between them and the rest of the dogs. Good for socializing. They might be new to this, but they are doing it the right way to ensure a good lineage for the future of the breed and the pups they will eventually produce. The mother of our pup Marley, was very healthy and incredibly active. She is one of the smaller females we have ever seen, but she surely produced a very nice healthy litter of pups. The Father, was not one of theirs, but we were able to see all the health lineage and pictures. We were able to play with the litter of those that were left. Having had 8, I believe there were still 5-6 there when we picked up ours. Very active, healthy, full of energy crowd they were. Especially when I got down at their level. Our new family member, now known as OLLIE, though shy at first, is now fully acclimated to his new home in Alabama. Here like there, he has many acres to run, grow and live on. He Is learning many things fast, though we are still working on the housebreaking as a primary. Learning fast and just about anything is a strong trait of this herding breed. But only IF you the owner are willing to put in the time to bring it out. Though he’s a pup he still sleeps a lot, but when awake a zooming ball of fire, waiting for his leaders next interaction. A full-time job for months for sure, but enjoyable if you’re a true responsible pet owner and want to have a great lifetime companion. I think our OLLIE will be a great example of this once grown. Thank you, Randy & Trish, for our enjoyable visit, all the information you shared and mostly for being the starting parents of our new family member OLLIE. I am sure we will continue to keep in touch. Sincerely, Mike & Laura Crawford, Valley Grande, AL / Franklin, NC Oliver “OLLIE” Winston Crawford
