I'm Davina L., the breeder behind Ranch Hand Corgis located in Powhatan, VA. My goal is to preserve the Pembroke Welsh Corgi breed. My puppies are bred to the AKC breed standard. I produce outstanding puppies that are structurally sound, healthy, intuitive, and have wonderful temperaments.
Q. & A. with Davina
Why did you start breeding?
I have always loved dogs and was excited to establish my breeding program. I have loved the journey and I am a proud breeder with a focus on temperament and the overall mental and physical health of my puppies. I love placing happy, healthy puppies with loving families.
What makes your program special?
Ranch Hand Corgis is special because of our dogs. Corgis are such a joy, and I find so much fulfillment in raising and preparing them for their loving, forever homes. I truly love my puppies and know you will, too! I pride myself on helping all of our adopting families find the right fit for their needs and lifestyle.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include red, sable, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Bugsy, mom
Pembroke Welsh Corgi
About Bugsy
Bugsy is the kind of Pembroke Welsh Corgi who trots into a room with the confidence of someone who’s absolutely certain she’s the main character. She has that classic Corgi combination of sharp intelligence and mischievous charm. Bugsy is a beautiful classic red and white Corgi who earned her AKC Champion title with ease.
She’s endlessly curious—always investigating, poking her nose into bags, boxes, and any door left slightly ajar. Bugsy likes to pretend she’s doing important detective work, but really, she just wants to know if you’re hiding treats.
Above all, Bugsy is loyal, hilarious, expressive, and just a little too smart for her own good. She is the four-legged embodiment of joy with a sprinkle of sass—a tiny herding dog with a huge personality.
Ryder has an oversized personality packed into a compact, sturdy frame. His expressive, fox-like face is framed by large, attentive ears that seem to perk up at every new adventure. Ryder is a beautiful sable making his signature little “Corgi smile” even more charming.
Ryder is confident and curious, and moves with the characteristic Corgi trot: quick, purposeful, and just a little bit mischievous. He adores being involved in everything, whether it’s herding his humans from room to room, showing off his clever tricks, or eagerly greeting new friends.
Ryder is happy showing off at dog, chasing after toys, exploring the outdoors, or settling in for a snuggle once his adventures are done. Loyal, playful, and full of heart, Ryder embodies everything that makes Pembroke Welsh Corgis so beloved.

About Nemo
Ranch Hand's Finding Nemo (Nemo) is named after the Disney movie of the same name. His dam's name is Dorie, so I couldn't resist giving a nod to the movie. Nemo is super sweet and loves to help with farm chores and investigate every hole, bug or anything he deems of interest. He passes his sweet disposition on to his offspring.

Davina was wonderful to work with. She’s responsive, knowledgeable, and breeds fantastic puppies. Our corgi has been a dream and has a fantastic temperament. It’s clear she puts a lot of work into their first 8 weeks.

Finding a Corgi puppy located near our county was a bit challenging so we were delighted to find a breeder in the next county to us. Davina was very responsive in allowing us to meet her and visit with her puppies. We knew right away that Road Runner (now Boo) was a perfect match for us. Our 11 year old male corgi, Brit had recently passed away rather suddenly. Boo reminded me so much of him. We stayed in touch with Davina until Boo was ready to leave and become a part of our forever home. He is a true delight and looking forward to having him grow up as a member of the family. Thank you, Davina for all your support. We would not hesitate to reach out if the need should arise.

Davina was a joy to work with! We picked Ranch Hand Corgis initially because of how evident it is Davina cares about the health of her puppies. We also saw how much her previous customers loved working with her, and adore their pups! Davina answered every question we had quickly and with so much detail! Our little girl has been wonderful, still a baby but you can see the work Davina puts in paying off. We love our little Millie and when our older dog moves on, if we decide to have a home with two pups we’ll definitely come back to Ranch Hand.

We live in the Pittsburgh area and have wanted a corgi for years but wanted to ensure we got one from a very trusted, long-standing breeder. In 2020, we met a couple who have a wonderful, healthy corgi whom they told us was from Ranch Hand Corgis. We immediately knew that was where we would get our pup. Best decision we could have made. She (Maple) is now going on 4 years old and now we have a second pup (Hemlock) who is almost 1 year old. Maple is a glamour coat and Hemlock is a fluffy. Our fur babies are the most unique and gorgeous pups and we feel “Ranchys” are truly set apart from all other corgis we meet. They have very different personalities but have such wonderful temperaments and are very healthy. Davina is amazing to work with, professional and most importantly, trustworthy. Davina’s pups are truly special and worth the 16-hour roundtrip drive for us. We would do it a third time in a heartbeat!! Davina lives on a farm and we always enjoy going to meet our pups and see the other dogs and animals on the farm. Davina is always excellent in ensuring she is available when it suits our schedule to make the journey to Virginia.

Davina was fantastic to work with. We got our first Corgi from her back in June 2021, which we named Windsor. Davina was there to answer any and all questions we had - even ones that I look back and feel were probably pretty silly to ask. She gave plenty of recommendations for foods, supplements, toys, etc., all that we were grateful to have received. We were so very impressed with Davina that we returned to her the following year for our second puppy, which turned out to be Windsor's half sister. Again, Davina was there to answer all questions and provide recommendations. We named this puppy, Willow. Both dogs have been great. We have had no major health issues with either one of them. And I would gladly return to Ranch Hand Corgis for another puppy!
