I'm Jessica P., the breeder behind Raven Oak's Shepherds & Dachshunds located in Louisburg, NC. Our dogs are bred for Health and Temperment. Most of our German Shepherds excel in akc sports such as barn hunt, agility, and fast cat. Both breeds make excellent pets.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    My passion for animals brought me into the breeding world where I hope to make a difference in my breed as far as bettering temperment and work ability within a family home.

  • What makes your program special?

    All of my German Shepherds are OFA and Embark health tested. Most of my shepherds have a minimum of a Canine Good Citizen title or more. My miniature Dachshunds have all been Embark health tested and are amazing pets.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Cockapoo puppies are mini size. Dachshund puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our German Shepherd puppies include stock and long coat varieties. Dachshund puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our German Shepherd puppies include sable and black. Cockapoo puppies include merle, red and white, red, brown, black, and black and tan. Dachshund puppies include cream, black, chocolate, chocolate and cream, black and cream, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Jessica

Puppy prices include a $300 non-refundable deposit and between $1,200 - $2,200 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Price includes Limited AKC, first Distemper parvo shot, multiple dewormings, 1 yr genetic health guarantee, and a goodie bag. Deposit is $300 nonrefundable to hold your puppy. Puppies go home at 8 weeks.”

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Dentition

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), DNA Disease Panel
