Meet the breeder

I'm Michelle O., the breeder behind Rebels Ridgeview Acres located in Waynesburg, OH. I have owned English springer spaniels for over 30 years and pride myself on providing support for life to the new owners.

Q. & A. with Michelle

  • Why did you start breeding?

Rebel was my first English spaniel who we adopted at the age of four. I fell in love with the breed at that point and my breeding program is dedicated to him. I have owned many springers since. After Rebel there was Oscar, then Beau, then Ace. Presently I have 5, Blossom my older girl, who is spayed now. My beautiful Jazz, my boy, Giorgio, and my youngest two Francesca and Vivianna.
  • What makes your program special?

We live in the rolling hills of Ohio on six acres surrounded by woods and fields. I pride myself on giving my dogs proper nutrition and exercise, whatever the season. Being Springers they love the water and mud and have a great time down at the pond. My dogs are DNA health tested. I do xrays. Bred for genetic diversity, temperament, health and intelligence. We do early neurological stimulation. Benefits of Stimulation: Improved cardio vascular performance (heart rate) Stronger heart beats. Stronger adrenal glands. More tolerance to stress. Greater resistance to disease. They all see the vet for a health check before leaving for their permanent homes and have first vaccines and worming as appropriate.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include tri-roan, red and white, liver white and tan, and black white and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Good level

Rebels Ridgeview Acres reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for English Springer Spaniels.

  • Hip Dysplasia

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Canine Good Citizen (CGC), Brucellosis

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Fucosidosis, von Willebrand Disease III (vWD III), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), Glycogen Storage Disease Type VII, Phosphofructokinase Deficiency, PFK Deficiency (PFKM Wachtelhund Variant), DNA Profile, PRA, Cone-Rod Dystrophy 4 (PRA-crd4)

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
