Meet the breeder

I'm Michele W., the breeder behind Red Bayou Kennels, LLC located in Mendenhall, MS. Having dogs in our lives is such a blessing. We find so much fulfillment in providing that same companionship to other homes! The loyalty and loving disposition of this breed are simply the best! We put a great deal of effort into raising our litters to ensure our puppy families will have the best experience raising their new family members.

Q. & A. with Michele

  • Why did you start breeding?

A great friend of mine breeds shih tzu’s and watching the love and joy she gives to people when they take home their new puppy sparked something in me. Having standard poodles was also a dream of mine and 5 years ago we added our first poodle to our family. After spending a lot of time consulting with my friend and our veterinarian, doing lots of research and prayer we decided to begin breeding.
  • What makes your program special?

I don’t even like to say what we do is a “program” or “kennel” because our dogs are part of our family. They live inside, sleep in our beds, go on vacations with us, etc. Our puppies are part of that as well, they are surrounded by love, kids, other dogs and cats. We believe the more exposure to things the better. We start housebreaking, crate training and leash walking at about 5 weeks old.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include apricot, black, brown, red, and parti. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

We recently adopted our puppy, Luna, from Red Bayou Kennels, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. Michele was absolutely amazing from start to finish and truly made the entire process enjoyable. She patiently answered all of my questions and maintained excellent communication every step of the way, which made us feel confident and at ease. It’s clear that she is a wonderful, responsible breeder who truly cares for her animals. Luna came to us kennel trained and mostly potty trained, which was such a huge bonus and made the transition so much smoother. We are so grateful and highly recommend Red Bayou Kennels to anyone looking to add a new furry family member. 🐾💛
