I'm Kourtney H., the breeder behind Red Prairie Retrievers located in Gillete, WY. Red Prairie Retrievers is a breeder located in Gillette, Wyoming with over 10 years of experience working with golden retrievers and labs. We dedicate ourselves to bettering the breeds. We are committed to providing healthy and superior puppies to loving families. We do not kennel our dogs and they get to live normal, spoiled lives as our family members. Our puppies are raised inside and socialized starting day one until they leave for their new families. We strive to be responsible and honest breeders so our puppies owners have an amazing experience with their new puppy.

Why did you start breeding?
My mother was a breeder and shower of Dachshunds, so it was natural for me to be introduced to breeding and training. Once I was old enough to get my own dog, I chose a Golden Retriever. My passion for bettering this breed has grown every day I work and train them.What makes your program special?
We have dedicated ourselves to bettering the Golden Retriever breed through health testing, training, and titling our dogs. Our dogs are not kenneled and live normal lives indoors with my family. They are a part of all the activities we enjoy. We strive to be a responsible and honest breeder so our puppy owners have an amazing experience with their new puppy.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Golden Retriever puppies include dark golden and golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Getting a puppy from Kourtney
Kourtney has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.
Kourtney partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 6 weeks old.
"We match people with their puppy, so that each puppy is fit in to a home that is best for its temperament and activity level. It is important that each puppy has a home that will be the best fit. Utilizing our applications, we will assess temperaments using the Volhard’s Puppy Aptitude Testing of puppies at 6-7 weeks of age, and match puppies with their homes based on the temperament and present behavior."
Price
"All of our prices are $2800 for puppies AKC Limited, regardless of size, gender, or color. Price includes registration, vet visit, goodie bag, and lifetime support. We take $200 to get on our list and $300 once your puppy is born. The final amount is due on or before pickup."

About Goldie
Goldie, is our one and only Labrador Retriever. We got her out of South Dakota! We chose her due to her lineage in upland hunting. While she's had her share of success in waterfowl, it's clear that upland is her true passion. Goldie is very trainable and could ultimately do any sports and love them. Goldie has great energy outdoors, yet knows how to relax perfectly in the house.

About Fancy
Fancy is a beautiful and smart girl we had the chance to purchase when she was a year old. She was training with a trainer for field work when we found her. Fancy earned her HR and SH before she was 17mo of age and will work towards her HRCH and MH with us. She is athletic and incredibly sweet. Fancy is great in the house and awesome with people. She has a tendency to love on kids and younger people naturally.

Golden Retriever
About River
River is a beautiful, field golden retriever with exceptional lines out of Idaho. Her sire has his hunt titles and is an awesome field golden. She flew through her CGC and field titled with natural grace. She has multiple upland and waterfowl seasons under her belt. River is one of our best upland girls. She uses her nose, and she has a great retrieve drive, marks well and will bring back a bird out of anything. We are very excited to see what this girl will grow into!

About Cali
Cali is a 50lb female, she is a little more petite and smaller than most of our other girls. She is a really fun girl and loves all people. She has drive to do sports and field work, but is a fantastic family dog as well. She came to us out of Nebraska from some good friends of ours. She will continue some field training and dock diving because she enjoys it! She is only one pass away from getting her JH Title.

About Poncho
Poncho is an awesome fella out of Thunderstruck Retrievers in MN. He is very sweet and loves attention. When it is time to work, he has great attention and drive. He has high energy, but is able to shut off in the house. He is trainable and catches onto new skills quick. He has a pedigree full of field lines. He earned his MH (master hunter) title at 2.5 years of age in 2022. He loves dock diving and air retrieve! We plan to run him in more dock diving events and HRC field events. He has two HRCH passes as of summer 2023.

About Bridger
Bridger is an awesome male that we are so excited to have in our program. He comes from field lines, but also comes from service work dogs, both of his maternal grand parents were working service dogs. Bridger has a very sweet, mild temperament. He has moderate energy but nice, high drive. He is great in the house and with all other dogs. He is a very thick fella with a nice strong build. He is currently in field training with us in Gillette, WY. Our goal is to obtain his MH and HRCH! Stay tuned with this handsome guy. We will also be doing dock diving and pursuing some other sports with him!

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Ichthyosis, Golden Retriever Type
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
