I'm Stephanie T., the breeder behind Red River Corgis located in Allen, TX.
Q. & A. with Stephanie
Why did you start breeding?
We've always had a soft spot for our corgis. Their playful personalities, stubby legs, and big hearts captured our hearts. The companionship of a Corgi is one like no other.
After carefully researching and considering the responsibilities of a breeder, we decided to take that next step. We strive to provide a quality companion who will be with their owners for long fulfilling lives.
What makes your program special?
Our focus is in breeding for temperament, selecting dogs with gentle, friendly, and intuitive personalities. Our goal is to produce well-adjusted puppies that are not only physically healthy but also emotionally sound. We prioritize early socialization and positive reinforcement training. We are committed to helping our buyers find the perfect lifelong companion for their family.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include fawn, red, sable, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Maggie, mom
Pembroke Welsh Corgi
About Maggie
Maggie is sweet, smart, intuitive, empathetic, and cuddler. She is always by your side and will do anything for an extra treat.
Maggie is homozygous on her coat. She is Clear for EIC, VWD1, and DM at risk. Genetic testing has come a long way and today it is easy to test for this mutation. We test ALL of our breeding dogs and then use this information to plan matings to ensure that no “at risk” puppies are produced.
Since we use genetic results to plan matings and neither “clear” or “carrier” individuals will develop DM, we have not eliminated her from our breeding program.
Here is why
We are focused on raising the best overall dog that we can possibly raise. We want to create the best dogs possible therefore we are not willing to compromise structure, temperament or breed standards just to have DM clear dogs because neither carrier nor clear individuals are at risk of developing this disease.
Scientists are making new discoveries every day and they may discover that the SOD1 gene may actually be linked to another gene possibly beneficial that we would not want to lose.
OFA data reports that only 13.4% of Pembrokes are clear for DM so by only breeding clear individuals to other clear individuals within such a small gene pool, inbreeding drastically increases. Inbreeding within a small population often results in an increase of diseases caused by recessive mutations such as cancers.
So for us, we will continue to test all dogs in our breeding program and use this data to plan matings so that no “at risk” puppies will be produced.
