I'm Janet O., the breeder behind RiverRAT Barn Hunt located in Saint Helens, OR. We offer well-bred, health and temperament tested German Pinschers for sport and pet families. We breed very infrequently, and our priority is producing dogs sound of mind and body that can be successful in all dog sport competitions and as great family pets.
Q. & A. with Janet
Why did you start breeding?
I was fortunate to purchase an amazing foundation female which led me to research and understand genetics and how physical and health-related traits are passed down and strengthened in subsequent litters. Our breed is a lower number breed in the United States, and widening the genetic pool without drowning in it takes a lot of effort, but it's worth it!
What makes your program special?
We are very dedicated to what we do and what we are trying to achieve as breeders. We focus on creating amazing sports dogs that are healthy, long-lived, and have fantastic work ethics. They also are very competitive in the conformation ring, but this breed excels when they have a job, and dog sports and related activities are where they are most themselves. In our program, we work with passion, heart, and integrity, and we truly want what's best for the German Pinscher line!
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
