Richard W.

Breeder of Cane Corso

Meet the breeder

I'm Richard W., the breeder behind RiverStone Gardens located in Woodland, CA. This breeding is special with both sire and dam being AKC Champions, with both dogs having temperaments that are extraordinarily “chill”. Dam AKC CH Potrero “Lola” Simone CGCA is a grey brindle, sire GRCH “Brutale” Bello is a magnificent velvety black. Both dogs are remarkable breed ambassadors.

Q. & A. with Richard

  • Why did you start breeding?

First dog was a German Shepherd Dog (GSD) that contracted degenerative myelopathy (which I’d never heard of), and while searching for another GSD breeder in a breeders catalog, discovered the Cane Corso in the late 1990’s. My first Corso which became an ARBA and IABCCA champion (before AKC breed recognition). This litter is Lola’s first, bred to a proven champion who’s sired multiple champions.
  • What makes your program special?

Beyond the AKC show ring achievements and extensive successful health testing of both sire and dam, first and foremost: Temperament. As a small, “boutique breeding” each puppy will be extensively socialized (using techniques of Jane Killion’s “Puppy Culture”), snd require pre-approval for prospective home-placement to ensure suitable “forever homes” and a happy, loving environments.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black and gray brindle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
