I'm Andrew S., the breeder behind Root and Branch Bernedoodles located in Clarinda, IA. We are 2 families working together in the beautiful, rugged hills of southwest Iowa. We take tremendous pride in raising Miniature Bernedoodle puppies that are happy and healthy.
We prioritize the raising of outstanding pups by properly handling our pups to build trust, offering plenty of outdoor time, and appropriate socialization. And who could resist frolicking with these adorable, fun-loving creatures?
It brings us so much joy to see these amazing Miniature Bernedoodles head off to homes such as yours where we know they will be loved and adored.
Q. & A. with Andrew
Why did you start breeding?
Jordan and Andrew grew up on a farm in southwest Iowa helping raise English Bulldogs. Their family operation has been running over 40 years and continues to flourishes passing AKC and state inspections consistently with flying colors. Jordan and Andrew both went to college and received a BA one in business and the other in personal training. They have worked with multiple small businesses and always have loved animals and dogs from their childhood. Which brought them back to Iowa to raise their families and venture out into a new breed hence, the minature bernedoodle. You won't find much better quality out there with the experience of these two and their families.
What makes your program special?
Our dogs get the experience of farm life and being raised with children and other animals. Our dogs are loved and puppies receive ENS training, along with socialization with various ages of people. They are taught early to trust us and humans. We also temperament test as a gift to our customers to help the transition home go smooth as possible. If you are looking for a well adjusted, lovable and loyal companion, we have what you are looking for.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are mini size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include tri-color, phantom, and merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.

We have said a lot of good byes and will continue to this week. My daughter has shed some tears as we have bonded with the puppies preparing them for their forever homes. We find it a privilege to serve and bring quality pets to others and this is the rewarding part! Getting to see the joy on your faces and the excitement of the puppy as they head on to their new adventure. We pray for great transitions for all. We have one guy left “Dusty Miller” who is perfection and awaiting his home. You can see more photos of him on our “litters” page.

Yesterday was “spa” day for our pups. Nail trimming, bath and even a little massage. 🤣. We made it a family affair and spent time cuddling, and playing with each pup. These puppies are so beautiful and eagerly awaiting their new homes! Puppy care is something we take serious. They have ample time outside, touch, play and pampering. All they need is to learn some manners in how to say thank you. 🤣🤣

We have started introducing our puppies to new things and expanding their senses! We are seeing even more of their personalities shine through in this process and it’s so fun. This week the puppies have had opportunity to be with three generations of people. Kids and toddlers, middle age and the “older”… lol. We gave them their next round of deworming and all are thriving with our kids help. Last, the puppies are getting more outdoor time this week with the nice weather. So they are feeling the grass and wind, heading the surrounding sounds and getting to interact with our livestock guardian dog and pup. There is never a dull moment here. But we’re thankful for the opportunity to serve and provide a wonderful companion for you.

Tammy one of our previous owners was so sweet to write us this review. I thought I would share it here. Above is a picture of her adorable mini Bernedoodle “Lucy” she purchased from us last year. We are thankful for our awesome owners who love our dogs.
“We were very happy with Root and Branch. From the moment I submitted our application till we picked up our little girl, Lucy. I let them know my preference from the very beginning I wanted a female, unfortunately the first litter had only boys so we had to wait a little while, but I was guaranteed that I would get the first pick of the next litter that had females. They kept me informed of the mother‘s health status and once the puppies were born, they sent me pictures so I could see the puppies as they matured. I let them know after seeing the pictures which puppy I was leaning towards and once they were old enough, we got to see them in person. We saw what a wonderful environment the puppies were being raised in, with lots of interaction with children and other animals. Lucy is a very healthy eight month old now who has lots of personality and loves to have attention and be loved. Anyone who is considering a Mini Bernedoodle can’t go wrong going through Root and Branch Bernedoodles.”

Introducing a few of our new pups! Meet Salvia and Aster! If you didn’t catch the theme we decided since they were born in spring we would use a flower theme! So with the inspiration of my mother in laws greenhouse our first litter is “ perennial names” and our second litter “annuals”. 🌸🥳😀. Here are two puppies from our perennial litter; Aster a male, with tri color including tan, light grey and white. And Salvia, female tri color with tan, black and white. Both have crystal blue eyes. This week the puppies move kkinto their 4 weeks mark. We have been working on handling and interaction with new sounds, people and a few animals. I’m in love with both litters. They are healthy, strong and already achieving so many of our goals for a overall well tempered pup. We are excited and praying for their new homes.
