Sapphire Poodles

Wendy C.

Breeder of Poodles

Meet the breeder

I'm Wendy C., the breeder behind Sapphire Poodles located in Lynchburg, VA. My husband, Greg and I live with our 4 Standard Poodles, all spoiled house pets. We enjoy participating in conformation and several sports. Our dogs are health tested above CHIC standards and we raise puppies using Puppy Culture. We have puppies in the field being trained as service & therapy dogs.

Q. & A. with Wendy

  • Why did you start breeding?

My first Poodle in 1982 was a gorgeous apricot out of an AKC top producer. I was entrusted with an unrelated female from the same breeder so that she could mentor me. I bred a few mini and toy litters over the years, took a break for 15 years to run a cake biz and now we're back and working with solid and multi-color standards.
  • What makes your program special?

We show our Poodles in conformation and several performance sports. Parents are health tested and diversity tested. Puppies are raised with Puppy Culture and temperament tested. In conformation we've achieved - several gemstone grand champions with top 10 placements. Several of our dogs are TDI tested therapy dogs. We've produced service dogs as well. Pet and show homes welcome.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black, blue, brown, cafe au lait, silver, silver-beige, parti, phantom, and brindle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
