I am at my best when I am with my dogs and nothing makes me happier than the opportunity to share them with others! Sassafras Goldens is a family affair. From potty breaks to puppy socialization, each family member plays an important role in making this dream come true!

Why did you start breeding?
I was passionate about volunteering and doing animal-assisted therapy work but was unsuccessful with the 2 rescue dogs I had adopted due to their behavioral issues. My rescues also suffered from lifelong health issues from poor care. I purchased a golden from a reputable breeder and the difference blew me away. I had a desire to be able to offer equally great dogs to other people too.What makes your program special?
We aim to produce puppies that match the AKC breed standard. We health test our dogs to ensure that we are breeding the healthiest puppies possible. We continue to implement health, training, and socialization strategies long after puppies are born. We keep in contact with every family that purchases one of our puppies and offer lifetime breeder support!Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.

Bumble is the definition of a “traditional” golden! She has a gorgeous sandy golden coat and the hallmark personality of a golden - smart, patient, and so sweet! She has the energy level that we strive for in all our dogs where she will be active and play when we are outside but she will also be calm and lay around with us all day.

About Nelson
Nelson is our show line AKC male and is a traditional gold color with a luxurious coat and blocky head. Nelson is easy to train and as such has earned a variety of titles in obedience as well as dock diving. Nelson has also earned his International Championship! At 80 pounds, this big boy loves everyone he meets and will soon begin his work as a therapy dog bringing others as much joy as he brings us! Nelson's pedigree includes many show and sport champions and we expect his puppies to continue this legacy. Nelson is fully health tested with OFA Excellent hips.

About Jovi
Jovi is our fluffy red head! She is one of our laziest and funniest girls I've ever had. She is an absolute couch potato and lives for food. She wiggles all over when she gets excited and is the best snuggle buddy. She is shorter but very stocky with a gorgeous dark red coat. Jovi has the blocky head that many are looking for and we are excited to see her pass these wonderful traits to her puppies.

Shug comes from our most popular breeding between Angel and Nelson. Born and raised here just like her mom, Shug has our heart dogs on both sides of her pedigree as well as many champions in conformation and dog sports. We know this line very well and continue to be impressed! Both of her parents and grandparents have “Excellent” rated hips which only 5% of golden retrievers achieve. Shug is close to a cream color but has rich golden undertones that really shine in the sun. Her coat is extremely manageable without sacrificing the fluff. Shug loves to fetch and a ball of any kind is her favorite!

Roadie is our large red male weighing about 75 pounds and on the taller side. He is so sweet, easy to train, and has the quintessential goofy golden personality! Roadie has a lower retrieve drive and is happiest socializing and relaxing. His puppies range from traditional golden to dark red depending on who he is paired with.
