I'm Doree D., the breeder behind Serendipity Dutch Shepherds located in Longmont, CO. I have been breeding dogs for 20 years, this is my first Dutch Shepherd litter. I believe in training dogs primarily through positive reinforcement and will require that puppy buyers use science based training methods. I am dedicated to ensuring pups have a healthy relationship with their families.
Q. & A. with Doree
Why did you start breeding?
We purchased a bitch from friends who were involved in SAR. They mentored us and helped us navigate health testing, finding a stud and with raising the first litter. There are very few British type Border Collies so we bred our own rather than import dogs.
What makes your program special?
We put a great deal of effort into both choosing breeding pairs and in how we raise the litter. Our goal is to raise dogs that could be great working dogs and/or great family pets. I believe that this is best acheived through science based training methods.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Nina
Nina is a female Dutch Shepherd. Carefully selected as a great representative of her breed, Doree decided to make her part of their program. Doree has passed Good Dog’s screening process, which involved a review of their breeding practices, environment, and the mental and physical health of their dogs.
Serendipity Dutch Shepherds reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Dutch Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
