I'm Shaffer Top Notch Puppies S., the breeder behind Shaffer Top Notch Puppies located in Preston, ID. Dogs have always been part of my life, as a kid my pets were my baby dolls, they got dressed up and strolled around. When we got married and got our first dog, we were instantly in love, with our first baby. We have made it our mission to bring healthy, happy puppies into the lives of other’s.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    We both had pets growing up and have always had a deep love for them. When we got married we bought two Labs and started raising and training them 5 years after we were married. When our kids got a little older they each were able to get a dog and learned how to take care of, and help raise and train their own puppies. They learned it is hard work to raise puppies, but also very rewarding.

  • What makes your program special?

    Our breeding program is special, it is a way of life for us. We LOVE our dogs and take pride in producing puppies that have hands on training starting at day three. We start potty training at 3 weeks. I love flying them all over and delivering them to family’s that I know will love them almost as much as me :) We live in a small town out on 18 acres of land where our dogs have room to run and play and really live the best life possible.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our Cockapoo puppies are mini size. Cavapoo puppies are miniature size. Poodle puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our Cockapoo puppies include red, cream, and red and white. Cavapoo puppies include cream, red, and apricot. Poodle puppies are red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $2,000 - $2,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

    We are so blessed to work with Teresa throughout this time while waiting for Monica to arrive. Right from the start, Teresa introduced us to Monica, her siblings, and parents via FaceTime. She was very responsive to any questions we had. She was also very accommodating with our pickup logistics and schedule because of our travel plan. During our wait, she constantly updated us on Monica's pictures and videos. When I met her at the airport, she patiently explained the tips to me as a first-time pet owner and provided me with Monica's paperwork, blanket, toy, and her kibbles. Teresa's loving and nurturing approach to caring for her dogs reflects on Monica's temperament.     We had a wonderful experience working with Teresa when welcoming home our sweet Fleetfoot Mac (Willow). She was incredibly helpful throughout the entire consideration process - even taking the time to schedule a FaceTime call so we could meet our pup beforehand and ask all our (many!) questions. Mac arrived healthy, happy, and already microchipped, which gave us so much peace of mind. We did have a small scheduling mishap along the way, but it was partly on our end and Teresa was gracious and patient as we got things sorted out. Most importantly, Mac is everything we hoped for and more - SO SMART, loving, kind, and such a joy to our family. We’re so in love we’ve already joked that we might need another one from Teresa here soon. We’re truly grateful for the experience and highly recommend this breeder.

    Teresa is fantastic to work with. She even did a video chat to show us the dog. We adopted a cockapoo from her and could not be happier. Our little boy Theo (formally cedar) is a bundle of joy and absolutely one of the brightest dogs we have owned.
