Meet the breeder

I'm Katie G., the breeder behind Shasta Royal Monroe Puppies located in Redding, CA. Every puppy we raise is adored as part of our family from birth. Our puppies will complete your home, your family, and your heart! We raise our dogs in our home right alongside our family. We love being able to match our puppies with families that are the perfect fit for their personalities.

Q. & A. with Katie

  • Why did you start breeding?

I have always loved all animals. We got our first Australian Labradoodle in 2020. I started breeding them and helping out my aunt. I especially love that it is a new breed (since the 80's) and I can contribute to making it better. I am committed to this and spend a considerable amount testing our breeders. This is why we are part of the World Wide Australian Labradoodle Association.
  • What makes your program special?

We, not only, test our dogs for health and temperament, but also, we spend a considerable amount of time socializing and training them. We know you will be proud of your Shasta Royal Monroe Puppy.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies include miniature and medium sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include caramel red, red, apricot, and chocolate. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.

Getting a puppy from Katie

Katie has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Katie partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 6 weeks old.

“At Shasta Royal Monroe, choosing your puppy is a thoughtful and guided experience designed to ensure the perfect match for your family and lifestyle—not just based on looks, but on long-term compatibility. Our process begins with an application, where we get to know you, your home, and what you’re looking for in a dog. Once approved, families join our list and secure their spot with a deposit. Each family is then assigned a pick number. When the puppies reach 6 weeks of age, we conduct a comprehensive temperament evaluation using the Empowered Breeder program. This allows us to understand each puppy’s natural personality, confidence level, energy, and trainability. From there, puppy selections begin in order of the reservation list. We guide you through the process by sharing:     •    Individual puppy descriptions     •    Temperament results     •    Photos and videos     •    Personalized recommendations based on your lifestyle Families are welcome to choose in person if local, or we coordinate a live virtual appointment for those at a distance. While many people are initially drawn to color, we strongly encourage choosing based on temperament, as this is what truly shapes your day-to-day life with your dog. Our goal is simple: To place each puppy in a home where they will thrive—and to match you with a companion that feels like they were meant just for you.”

We’re so grateful to have found our puppy through the Good Dog app! Katie was super responsive and very knowledgeable about the breed and happy to share about her practices including the early socialization she does which was very important to us. Our puppy is almost 5 months and is very eager to please and happy to learn new things and have adventures. He loves meeting new people and animals. He enjoys playing fetch and going to the dog beach. He hangs out on restaurant patios and is calm and non-anxious even during his first thunder and lightning storm. We highly recommend this breed (Australian Labradoodle) and Katie as a breeder. 🐶💜

I found the MOST AMAZING PUPPY through Katie, and she is now my angel baby!!!! Katie made the entire process extremely efficient, easy and transparent. We facetimed multiple times with the puppies until I was convinced that Millie (now Mila!) was my destined little puppy. She sent us home with all the information in a bag, drove 4 hours to drop her to us, and ensured we were sufficiently provided for. We have been in constant touch with her for advice since this is my first dog. I would highly recommend Katie and Shastra Monroe!

Casanova Robertson On April 8, 2025 we picked up Casanova from Katie at Shasta Monroe after having lost our ALD of 15 years. Our original ALD had been flown to us from Australia and was a “stud” dog and produced a number of offspring. When it was time for us to open our hearts to a new puppy we went on an exhaustive search both in Australia and around the United States. The rules for allowing a puppy into the United States have changed and so we looked at breeders in many areas. We had specific items that we needed in the bloodline and Katie was able to provide us with complete and particular information. Katie was responsive to our questions, sent us numerous videos during the selection process and had the knowledge base to insure we had found the right breeder. To our good luck she had our “Casanova” which was in training in the AKC Puppy Star program which meant when finished he was trained in many skills. While admittedly a trained puppy comes at a price the rewards were many. Casanova was four months old and knew several basic commands, was potty trained, crate trained and leash trained. The value of getting a trained puppy cannot be underestimated. We were able to immediately take him with us and continue his socialization. We had him at softball games, took him into stores that allowed, introduced him to our grandchildren from day one we also visited all our friends homes that were “dog people” and he was hugged and loved by dozens. Since he is a pretty boy with quite a prance to his walk we are stopped by people wherever we go who ask “can I pet him?” The training he received from Shasta Monroe apparently brought out the ALD traits and Casanova has not found a person he does not love. We live on a farm so he is exposed to all kinds of animals and so far the only ones he barks at are the cows, which with time we will curb! We walk Casanova without a leash on our property since we have the space and he responds to a “comeback” call . Everyone’s situation is different, of course, but when we got home he never again saw the inside of a crate. He sleeps through the night either on his bed or the cool tile floor. We have also found that since Shasta Monroe trained him with treats he is very responsive to that approach. Since he came with all the basic training we have had fun teaching him to shake hands, give high fives, roll over, chase his tail, give, and down stay in addition he responds to several hand commands. Starting with a dog who is trained and has the appropriate bloodlines gave us a very special dog which is enjoyed by us and so many. If you are looking for a ALD we suggest you give Katie at Shasta Monroe a chance to show you her dogs and consider having her put them through their basic training in order to reduce the drama of puppy time. We are always happy to answer questions and if you want to be put the Casanova photo gallery just let us know.

Katie is a wonderful breeder. She opened her home up to us so we could meet the puppies and parents. Katie worked well with our schedule since we had to drive 3 hrs both ways. Katie stayed in touch with me whenever I texted with a question. I had told Katie that we going to crate Vaasa (Romeo to her) she said she would start putting him in a crate. That helped out so much, we never had an issue with crating him. Also Katie knew we had a good 3 hour drive home with Vaasa and she took it upon herself not to feed him since puppies get car sick and it’s a very windy road. He never got sick sat on my lap the whole time. We are in our second week and he is growing leaps and bound. I highly recommend Katie and her pups if you’re looking for a well adjusted puppy. Katie’s family was very much involved with the raising of this litter. Thank You Katie
