I'm Logan B., the breeder behind Shepherd Country Farm and Kennels located in Terra Alta, WV. Family-based breeder raising well-rounded, family-friendly German Shepherds. Our dogs are not working line and are bred for stable temperaments with medium to low drive. Puppies are raised in our home and socialized for confident, easygoing family companions. 🐾.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I’ve worked in a vet office since 2011 and have owned Germans since 2009. I struggled to find a good, quality breeder so using my background and trial and error over the years, I decided to bring quality to my area.

Getting a puppy from Logan

Logan has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Logan partners with them to find the best puppy match.

Price

Puppy prices include a $300 non-refundable deposit and between $1,200 - $2,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Each puppy will be examined by a licensed vet, have first 3 rounds of deworming, first round of DHPP, Bordetella and microchip. You will also receive a form to complete for their AKC registration. All puppies are the same price regardless of color or gender. Difference is lineage.”

This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.   • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • DNA Disease Panel, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    We researched and talked with a lot of breeders looking for the right one that had the perfect shepherd to fit our family. Logan is the all time best to work with she is very responsive, she answered the million questions we had and never once seemed bothered by any of them. She gives honest advice on what she would recommend for your new puppy. On pick up day she let us meet Mom and Dad and spent quality time going over everything with us and assured us that just because we were off to our new adventure with Lakota that she would still be available if we had any questions or concerns. Thank you Logan for doing what you do, we couldn't have asked for a more informative breeder that genuinely cares about where her puppies go and their care even after they go home to their fur ever home.

    Logan and Shepherd Country Farm and Kennels made for a great experience. She is very knowledgeable, understanding and patient in answering any question I could come up with (trust me, there were many—I’m not the most trusting) and really helped put my mind at ease. She shares updates and pictures along the way and really makes you feel involved in the process. I wanted to make sure the temperament, drive and energy level of her lines would be a good match with my other pets and my lifestyle and I could not have asked for a puppy closer to perfection. Truly amazing personality and ideal energy level and drive to make for the perfect family member/companion. Enzo has been an absolute dream. The fact that he had a good start in life is very apparent. Having had mostly adult rescues in the recent past, I was more than a little apprehensive in taking on potty training, crating and everything that comes with puppyhood, but it was a breeze and took no time at all to establish a routine. Logan laid the initial groundwork to make that so! I cannot say enough just how much I adore him & how perfect he is. I know adding another (or two) is not an if but a when! I’m confident Shepherd Country is where I’ll be returning soon!

    I am not sure how i ended up at Gooddog or even found Logan and Shpherd Country, but it has been one of the best experiences i ever had. This is the 3rd dog i have gotten from a breeder, and this experience was flawless. From the communication and transaction process, to driving down and meeting the parents and the puppies, every thing was top notch. Jake is a fantastic dog ( ok thats a lie, he is a little land shark right now, but wil grow out of it, and is getting better). I dont know if i will ever get another dog, but if i do, Shepherd country is my first stop. And a clean bill of health from my vet, who was also impressed with the package that was sent home. Jake is on his way to becoming a great dog, and it all started there! 5 star through and through
