Meet the breeder

I'm Amanda G., the breeder behind Shimmer Great Danes located in Waterville, NY. Based in Upstate NY, I’m an AKC exhibitor and breeder focused on Great Danes, active since 2003. Guided by experienced mentors, I prioritize breed type, soundness, and temperament. Puppies are raised with ENS and Puppy Culture for a strong start. Supporting puppies and their people is my priority.

Q. & A. with Amanda

  • Why did you start breeding?

I began breeding for myself out of love for the breed and a desire to preserve it. My aim is to produce healthy, sound dogs that truly represent the breed standard. I enjoy showing at the highest levels, and breeding lets me choose pairings focused on health, temperament, and conformation. Through responsible practices and genuine care, I strive to help the breed thrive for years to come.
  • What makes your program special?

I proudly owner-handle all my dogs, including an All Breed Best In Show winner. Though I have friends who are handlers, I prefer to show my own dogs. I enjoy mentoring newcomers. Not every dog is shown, so I value the families who give my dogs loving homes. I stay connected and always support my “puppy people.” Building lasting relationships with show and pet families is truly rewarding.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include mantle merle, harlequin, mantle, and merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
