Meet the breeder
I'm the breeder behind Shireway Tollers located in Colorado Springs, CO. Mentor-guided and thoughtfully raised in our home, our program aims to breed puppies that embody the overall type and function of the Toller. We aim to keep our Toller's versatile and sound for the ring and field, but always grounded in the traits that make them fulfilling, steady companions.
Q. & A. with Clara
Why did you start breeding?
We got our first Toller to aid in bird hunts, but we fell in love so deeply with the breed’s heart, drive, and style that we vowed to preserve and protect it. What began as a search for a hunting partner became a lifelong commitment to the future of the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. We are blessed to be able to dedicate precious time and resources to do so.
What makes your program special?
Our dogs live in our homes and work alongside us. We aren’t here to reshape the Toller into something more convenient or marketable. We’re here to protect what makes it irreplaceable. We are simply a steward to the breed.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are red gold. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
