I'm Sadie V., the breeder behind Shooting Stars Ranch Toy and Mini Aussies located in Wichita Falls, TX. Shooting Stars Ranch Toy and Mini Aussies is owned and operated by Sadie and Michael Vandehey. Shooting Stars Ranch is located in Archer county, Texas on 11 acres. We are a small breeder of Toy and Miniature Australian Shepherds, dedicated to producing healthy, loving, intelligent, and structurally correct puppies. We strive to maintain the look of a standard size Aussie - just in a smaller package. All of our adults are duel registered with ASDR and AKC and have been tested for genetic issues that could be passed on to your puppy; thus, we are able to breed puppies free of those common problems.Our dogs are not "kennel" dogs, they are raised as pets and members of our family. Puppies are born and raised in or home; they are handled and loved every day by me, my husband, and our children. They are well socialized and will be happy and friendly when they get to go to their new home with you. We are always available to our clients - before, during, and after you bring your new family member home - whether it's for questions, advice, concerns, or puppy updates.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I (Sadie) have been raising Toy and Mini Australian Shepherds since 2008. Animals have always been a passion of mine, and I love getting to share the joy these dogs bring me with others. Getting "pup-dates" from families that have our puppies always puts a smile on my face. I regularly maintain contact with families for years.

  • What makes your program special?

    We are a small breeding program, so each of our dogs is a special member of the family. We raise our puppies in our home and are able to give them the individual attention they need. Puppies exposed to the typical houshold goings on like vacums, doorbells, comings and goings, and other animals. We also provide developmentally age appropriate socilazation to different environments and situations.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our Toy Australian Shepherd puppies include black tri, blue merle, red merle, and red tri. Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies include blue merle, black tri, red tri, and red merle. Miniature American Shepherd puppies include red tri-color, black tri, red merle, and blue merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

Getting a puppy from Sadie

Sadie has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Sadie partners with them to find the best puppy match.

“I do my best to match puppies with individuals/families based on a number of factors. I want my puppies to be successful in their new homes. I like to know what the buyers expectations are and what temperament characteristics are important to them. We also consider size, gender, and color preferences. ”

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $500 - $3,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“The price includes the health guarantee, ASDR and/or AKC registration (limited, full registration available in some cases), first vaccinations, and veterinary examination. Once you have picked out your puppy you can place a $500 non-refundable deposit down to hold it until they are old enough to leave. This deposit is applied to the purchase price. The remaining balance will be due when the puppy turns 8 weeks, or 1 week before shipping, whichever comes first.”

This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.     We traveled hours to pick up our baby and would do it again. The pups and dogs are well taken care of and Sadie and her family are so kind. They gave us a goodie bag filled with things our puppy likes and informed us on extra stuff such as her records and what she was eating followed with how to introduce the new food if planned. 5 months later, our 7 month old is the happiest little gremlin and healthiest.     Wonderful Experience with Sadie-After losing our 16 year old Toy Aussie Oliver we started searching for a breeder with high ethics and breeding for love.
