We're licensed (459) & AKC inspected!

Q. & A. with Kathryn

  • Why did you start breeding?

It was a decade, well, over, on this journey before I actually whelped SKG's first litter. I started w fostering oodles of puppies. You might ask- didn't you think there are enough pups already? Yep- thing is, there's a beauty & NEED for purebred puppies, getting exactly what you/your family need (which a rescue pup can't often do). Raising Goldens gives me the opportunity to meet & exceed them!
  • What makes your program special?

Oh goodness - like many of my admirable peers, I am a hands-on breeder, always learning better methods like PC or Avidog, investing a full heart (and pocketbook)! I know my pups unique personality and can make the best match for your personal puppy needs & hopes! It's not just me - I've got an amazing, dedicated team of help who invest in, dote upon and even pick up poop for my beloved Skarlottes!
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include dark golden, golden, and light golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.

If you're looking for an exceptional Golden Retriever breeder, I can't recommend SKARLETT's Goldens enough. From the very beginning, Kathryn made the entire experience feel personal. She took the time to understand what we were looking for and thoughtfully matched us with the perfect puppy for our family. We brought Georgia home on June 19, and she truly became part of our family from the moment she walked through the door. What impressed us most was how well-prepared Georgia was. She was confident, calm, and so comfortable in our home right away. It was obvious that Kathryn had invested so much time, love, and care into raising and socializing her before she ever came home with us. That foundation made an incredible difference in her transition. Throughout the process, Kathryn was knowledgeable, responsive, and genuinely cared about both her puppies and the families they were joining. It's clear that breeding healthy, well-adjusted Golden Retrievers is much more than a business to her—it's her passion. We are so grateful for our experience with SKARLETT's Goldens and for everything Kathryn did to give Georgia such a wonderful start in life. We couldn't imagine our family without her and highly recommend SKARLETT's Goldens to anyone looking for a Golden Retriever.

Kathryn is very knowledgeable and works a lot with her puppies from birth through the time she places them with their new families. Her care and consideration is obvious in the temperament of our puppy.

I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about Kathryn and our experience with Skarlotte Goldens. A Golden Retriever has been my dream dog since I was a little girl, so I spent a long time researching dozens of breeders to make sure I chose the right one for our family. When I came across Kathryn, I knew almost instantly she was the perfect fit. She is a wealth of knowledge, incredibly kind, and just an all-around wonderful person. The entire process could not have been easier—she guided us through every step, clearly explaining what to expect and keeping us updated along the way. She really listened to what we hoped for in a dog, especially knowing we have two young children. The matching process was unbelievably exciting and, honestly, my favorite part of the entire experience. My husband was a bit skeptical about the idea at first, but now he calls Kathryn the “dog whisperer.” Almost daily he comments on how he cannot believe how perfectly she matched us with our puppy and is now a complete believer in the matching process! Our Milo is everything we ever dreamed of and so much more. I am endlessly grateful to Kathryn for making this 30-year dream of mine come true. If you are looking for a breeder, look no further—Kathryn and Skarlotte Goldens will exceed your expectations in every way.

Kathryn was fantastic throughout the whole process. She kept us updated on the dogs’ progress with pictures and their general well-being, ensuring we were never left in the dark. The pickup was also incredibly easy and pleasant. We particularly appreciated her approach to matching the dog to us rather than letting us choose one that might not suit our lifestyle.

Kathryn is FANTASTIC!! She was incredibly knowledgeable and responsive throughout the entire process and didn’t leave a single detail out. She made sure we felt completely comfortable and gave us clear, step-by-step guidance on everything you could possibly think of when preparing to bring home a new puppy!

Kathyrn was a great person to work with! We truly appreciated her expertise and her kind hand with what she does for these lovely dogs. She goes the extra mile to make sure that her dogs are set up for success as well as the families adopting them. I will always go to her for future business with Goldens and recommend her to others.
