Meet the breeder

I'm Sara K., the breeder behind Smooshy Puppers located in New Berlin, WI. I am a small in-home breeder that breeds for temperament and health, with a litter every other to every year. All of our dogs are genetically tested for: DM Cystinuria 2 and 3, HUU, CRM1, and JHC. Soon we will be doing OFA testing as well, as we want the healthiest babies possible.

Q. & A. with Sara

  • What makes your program special?

I have been very fortunate to have our puppies go to great homes over the years, and am in contact with just about every family. I love getting updates! Often those families come back to help with socialization of the new babies. I like to think of it as a big extended Frenchie family
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Good level

Smooshy Puppers reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for French Bulldogs.

  • Patellar Luxation

Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Vet Wellness Exam

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • DNA Disease Panel

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
