I'm Kyla M., the breeder behind Sonnenhügel Kennel, LLC located in Osco, IL. Our German Shepherds are handler/owner trained. Our breeding dogs are trained, shown, and titled in a variety of activities that allow us to properly assess their strengths and weaknesses. We strive to breed and produce true working line German Shepherds.

Why did you start breeding?
My passion for canines has led me to breed Shepherds, including but not limited to, German Shepherds and Miniature American Shepherds. I choose to enter the world of breeding, in an effort to better the breeds I love. The goal for my breeding program is to produce canines that are not only great companions but are also capable of performing, especially in the areas they are bred for.What makes your program special?
Here at Sonnenhugel Kennnel, LLC, we take pride in the health of the dogs we produce. We strive to raise litters with excellent health and wonderful temperaments. We ensure that all of our pups are well trained and socialized by the time they are ready to go to their new homes. This breed is intelligent, active, and eager to please, making it the perfect addition to your family.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Miniature American Shepherd puppies are blue merle. German Shepherd puppies include sable and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

"Working line/Imported GSD Puppies-$2000-2500 Mini American Shepherds-$1200. All of our puppies are the same price, no matter the color. Price includes microchip, appropriate vaccines etc."

Our little prodigy has truly developed into a nice two-year-old. She is determined to please with a nice food and prey drive. She has a clear head and is environmentally sound. She is a pushy female, aloof to strangers and will alert when someone is on the property. She is more serious in protection work, having a civil side, but will bite if necessary. She holds her CGC, TKN, and TKI titles.

Ciro is high-drive and ready to perform. We are still getting to know each other well but so far we are loving the learning process. We get along great and he loves to train. There is no doubt that he will be a great addition to our program, due to the drive, good-natured disposition, and willingness to serve. We are excited to see the litters that he will produce and how well they perform in the coming years. Ciro was imported when he was 2 years old. He holds a SG show title, BH/VT, SVV1, BK-SK.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Full Embark Panel, PRA, Cone-Rod Dystrophy (PRA-crd), Standard Wirehaired Dachshund Type, GenSol Diagnostics DNA Testing, Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
