I'm Mark R., the breeder behind South Dakota Poodles located in Aberdeen, SD. Every puppy we raise is adored as part of our family from birth. Our puppies will complete your home, your family, and your heart! When we got our first dog, we were instantly in love. Since then, we’ve made it our mission to bring happy, healthy puppies into the lives of other families!
Q. & A. with Mark
Why did you start breeding?
After getting our little boy, we had so many people ask us if we would breed him. Hearing their stories of poodles in their past and how long they had been looking we decided to have a litter when we had 4-5 people say they would take a puppy. They told people and soon we had a wait list of 15 people. It became the greatest feeling seeing new families so in love with their pups, we kept breeding.
What makes your program special?
We aren’t a kennel, we live with our poodles. They sleep in our beds, they are not a side business, they are family. We will always be there for the families at any time to help and support them in any way we can no matter how long after the puppy goes to their home. We have stayed in contact with every family and I can tell you every puppies name and where they live. We actually care about them.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are toy size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

It’s hard to see in pictures and videos of Kenny Lily and Steve their true size. You can see Kenny’s front foot is the size of my fingernail. Their front feet are always bigger too! He isn’t as tall as a normal pet bed. He is such a sweet heart and is going to give someone lot of love for many years.

Kenny is the happiest little boy you will ever see. I can’t believe such a tiny little guy like him can hold so much love and charm in him. His little tail says it all. I can’t help but to smile when he sees me come into the room. He starts wiggling and wagging.

Mark was wonderful to work with! We were so please with the whole process!! If I ever wanted another puppy I would definitely buy from Mark again! He was very good at replying and very knowledgeable. You can see the love they have for their puppies! He would keep us up to date about everything and send pictures and videos and answered all my questions. Our little Lily has been the sweetest because of how well she was taken care of before we brought her home. I can't say enough about how truly wonderful Mark and Shelly are!! We feel very blessed! Good Dog has made the process very easy from paying securely to picking Lily up! Best experience we have had!
