Meet the breeder

I'm Victoria/Andrew B., the breeder behind South River Retriever's located in Vesuvius, VA. We are a small kennel based out of Vesuvius, VA. We have three female’s and one male. Our male Boudreaux, is a 6 year old English Cream Golden Retriever. Our females are all 3 years old. We have two Red Golden Retrievers, named Austen and Poe and one English Cream Golden Retriever, named Fitz.

Q. & A. with Victoria/Andrew

  • Why did you start breeding?

A friend of the family was going through life changes and needed to get out of her breeding business. Due to them knowing about my love for animals and understanding of how to take care of them, they offered to surrender their dogs to us. We decided then that this was a great new avenue for us. A lot of thought and preparation was done from us to start this business and we are excited for it.
  • What makes your program special?

We plan to keep this on a smaller scale and only have less than 5 Goldens at a time. In doing so we are able to focus on each of their needs and make sure they are loved as pets not as business objects. We treat our animals with love and kindness, and will continue to do so and enjoy each day with have with them.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
