I'm Richard D., the breeder behind Southern Charm Miniature Schnauzers located in Benton, AR. We raise our litters in our home to help set the foundation for happy and confident puppies to transition well into their forever homes. It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to make an impact on each individual puppy!
Q. & A. with Richard
Why did you start breeding?
I bought my first miniature schnauzer in 2006. He was a black male & I was in love. Jackson was a little lonely so I got him a playmate. Bella was a Salt & Pepper & they were instant friends. The next thing I knew I had a litter of pups and not a clue what to do next. Jackson’s breeder became my mentor & I began learning all I could about the breed. The more I learned the more I loved the breed.
What makes your program special?
I have spent 17 years perfecting my lines. I sought out breeders who adhere to the American Miniature Schnauzer Club and each Dam and Sire that I have brought in would bring something to improve my pedigrees and never detract. Our pups leave us well socialized and living the lifestyle that we expect their future families to provide. Our dogs are not our property or our pets, they are our family.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include salt and pepper, black and silver, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Molly, mom
Miniature Schnauzer
About Molly
Molly Bigs is a pillow princess until she has puppies and she turns in to Super Mom. She all but refuses to leave her litter as long as they are in the house. Most Dams head for the hills when the teeth come in but not Bigs. She manages to wean her pups while staying in the nursery with them. She loves to play with her babies and we believe that the pups are better for it. Her puppies are consistently playful, curious, loving and easily trained. The minute her last pup leaves the house she will demand that her pillow in the middle of our king sized bed be surrendered where she will reign until her next litter.
Bentley Claire, mom
Miniature Schnauzer
About Bentley Claire
Bentley is a very mellow calm dog but can be very playful when she wants to be. She has a good coat that doesn’t tangle as easily as some of the softer coats. She is a solid dog with a very muscular build. She loves to snuggle but only on her terms and with otherwise act as if she doesn’t hear a word we say. Bent tends to have large litters but decided to really show out with her last litter of NINE healthy little poop machines. She loves to be outside and we often find that she slips out the doggie door to sleep on the back deck. We have been told by multiple clients that Bentley’s pups are the best representation of the breed that they have every owned and each of them have had multiple Miniature Schnauzers throughout their lives. Bentley Pups are sure to please and will leave you longing for another if history is indeed the best teacher.
