Meet the breeder

I'm LAILA C., the breeder behind Southern Golden Retrievers located in Grand Terrace, CA. As dedicated breeders, we prioritize exceptional health, temperament, and personality in every puppy. Our dogs are cherished members of our family, and we take great care in selecting healthy, well-tempered parents, ensuring proper socialization, and providing top-quality daily care. We are committed to placing each puppy in a loving home, ensuring a seamless and joyful experience for both the puppy and their new family.

Q. & A. with LAILA

  • Why did you start breeding?

Over 40 years ago, my mother was a fancier of Retrievers and Rottweilers, and I had the joy of growing up in a home full of dogs—a "happy chaos" that shaped my life. As a teenager, I stepped into the show ring, competing alongside some incredible handlers. Today, my passion for dogs, especially Goldens, remains as vibrant as ever!
  • What makes your program special?

I am dedicated to producing well-balanced puppies that excel in any environment and can take on any role, from family companions to service animals. With service dogs holding a special place in my heart—my husband is a disabled veteran, and my son with his disabilities—I begin every puppy’s journey with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), combining Puppy Culture, Avidog, BABs, and techniques I've developed from working with our own service dogs. While we cannot guarantee your puppy will become a service animal, we ensure they are on the right path, giving you a strong head start for their future.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include dark golden, golden, and light golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
