I'm M. Cecila M., the breeder behind Southernwind Kennels located in Brooksville, FL. Established in 1975, our main purpose is breeding dogs with a purpose mission in life, priority health temperament. Our Breeding Program consists of highly selected dogs whose genetic components have been positively proven to produce the highest standards for many generations. Why did you start breeding?
I started in 1975 under the counseling of AKC German Shepherd Specialty Judge Joseph Palacios, who guided me for years in the proper selection based on Health, Structure, temperament Nerve stability.What makes your program special?
Our breeding Program covers all health clearances and preparation evaluations of dams and sires, we make sure health and temperaments are a priority and our puppies are raised inside our homes, they go over neurological stimulation and sensory work, our puppy buyers are offered full education and assistance throughout the whole puppy training procedure. Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
