🐾 Let’s Talk About Something Nobody Wants to Talk About… WORMS! 🪱😂 Little Miss Dolly and her precious pups just finished their very first round of deworming! ❤️🐶 This is just one of those behind-the-scenes things we do here at Spear Haven Beagles to help keep our mamas and babies healthy and thriving. Most people probably don’t give worms a second thought. But we sure do! And there’s a reason for that. Let me tell you a little story about a puppy named Cookie Monster. 🍪🐾 Years ago, we came across a Facebook post one Sunday morning about an adorable 8-week-old puppy who desperately needed a new home. Cookie hadn’t come from a responsible breeder. In fact, she’d originally been sold by a very irresponsible backyard breeder to a lady who lived in a rental where pets weren’t even allowed! When the lady brought Cookie home, her husband, apparently the sensible one in this situation 😂, told her she needed to find that puppy another home, and FAST! So she posted Cookie on Facebook. We saw that post, and, well… the rest is history! ❤️ That cute little puppy with the big, round, balloon-shaped belly became ours. Only there was a problem. That adorable little belly wasn’t just puppy chubbiness. It was HUGE! We took Cookie straight to the veterinarian, and the diagnosis? WORMS. LOTS AND LOTS OF WORMS. 😳🪱 And let me tell you, they weren’t kidding! What followed was absolutely awful for that poor baby AND for us. I’ll spare you the disgusting details, but it’s an experience we will never forget. Cookie Monster is still part of our family all these years later! ❤️ And she taught us a lesson that has stayed with us ever since. Now, here’s something every puppy parent should know! Worms are incredibly common in puppies, and finding them doesn’t automatically mean a breeder or puppy parent has done something wrong! Parasites are part of our natural environment, just waiting for an opportunity to find a host. Puppies can even acquire certain worms from their mothers before they’re born or while nursing. It’s nature at work, not necessarily a sign of neglect or poor care! 🌿🐾 That’s why puppies need to be dewormed multiple times as they grow, even when they look perfectly healthy. It’s a normal and important part of responsible puppy care. Here at Spear Haven Beagles, we follow a veterinarian-guided deworming schedule. Each round consists of three consecutive days of treatment, as directed by our veterinarian. Dolly’s Sunroom Blessings litter has now completed its first round, with more to come! Our goal is simple: When our puppies head home to their forever families, we want happy, healthy babies with comfortable little tummies! ❤️ And as for their little puppy poops? 💩 Well, we’d prefer that poop just be POOP, without any unwanted surprises wiggling around in there! 🤢😂 Of course, no deworming program can guarantee a puppy will never have parasites, which is why veterinary checkups, routine fecal testing, and continued parasite prevention are so important. And there’s something else I’d love for people to understand about Spear Haven Beagles. ❤️ Our pack isn’t made up entirely of pedigreed breeding dogs. Not even close! Over the years, our home and hearts have welcomed rescues, fosters, beloved family pets, and carefully selected pedigreed Beagles. They share our lives, but not every dog in our home is part of our preservation breeding program. And that’s exactly how we like it. Some came to us with beautiful pedigrees. Others came with difficult beginnings, uncertain histories, or simply a need for someone to love them. But every single one has had something to teach us. Cookie Monster taught us about parasites, the importance of early veterinary care, and the consequences of irresponsible breeding. Other dogs have taught us about temperament, genetics, patience, trust, and what it really means to give a dog a wonderful life. Those lessons matter. Because our preservation breeding program isn’t built on pedigrees alone. It’s also built on years of loving dogs, caring for them, learning from them, and sometimes learning things the hard way. Not every dog in our pack is part of our breeding program, but every dog in our pack has helped shape the breeders we’ve become. ❤️ And we take those lessons with us as we work to raise healthy, happy, well-adjusted Beagle puppies for the families who trust us. So yes, today we’re talking about worms. 😂🪱 Not exactly glamorous, but it’s one more little piece of what goes on behind the scenes here at Spear Haven Beagles. And if Cookie Monster could talk, I’m pretty sure she’d tell you she’s awfully glad we happened to be scrolling Facebook that Sunday morning. 🍪🐶❤️ From rescues to pedigrees, they’re all family here. And every one of them has a story worth telling. 🏡💕

Apollo really enjoyed picture time today. Born 9/14, his weight today was a really nice 2 pounds 11.2 ounces!!! I’ll get pictures of the others as they wake from naps today.💕

This is a fun update to give- everyone was just weighed in and they are growing! Each puppy is healthy, strong and thriving! They all received the first dose of dewormer today as well. And Ray somehow messed up his little yellow band, so he got a new one! It’s a good thing I always buy multiples!

Most pups had 18 day old pics today. If you don’t see new pics of your pup don’t worry, they will all be done shortly. These are nothing fancy, I take them with my phone just trying to show growth and those cute eyes all open now. Better pictures come age 4 weeks plus. Thanks friends. Sunny is asleep, he gets his own pic session after naps!

☀️ SUNNY HAS A MAMA! ☀️ Our sweet little lemon boy Sunny (orange collar) received his deposit today, and my heart is just about bursting! 💛 After the most wonderful video call, Suzanne — all the way down in Florida, the Sunshine State! — fell head over heels for our Sunny boy. And can we just talk about how perfect that is? A boy named Sunny going to live in the Sunshine State! ☀️🐾 Here's the part that got me... Suzanne is welcoming Sunny into her heart in memory of her special guy, Hank. Different boys, same beautiful love. Same hearts, different chapters, more love still. 💛 Hank was so deeply loved, and I just know he's smiling down knowing his mama's heart is opening up to love again. Sunny has some big paw prints to follow — but something tells me he's more than up for it. Congratulations, Suzanne! I snapped a couple of pictures for yall this morning when I had everyone out of the whelping box to clean it. The pups are starting to get around just enough that some made their way off the snoopy blanket! Dolly thinks cleaning is rather boring so she yawned!
