I'm Boni M., the breeder behind Springhouse Farms located in Pembroke, VA. Springhouse Goldens is a family endeavor shared by my daughter, Jannelle, and me. We raise confident, resilient European (English) Golden Retrievers on my Virginia farm, and around our natural springs, with enrichment, socialization, and care. Puppies go home between 10–12 weeks ready for adventure.
Q. & A. with Boni
Why did you start breeding?
Our son received an AKC Cocker Spaniel female for his birthday when he was young. He and I rescued an AKC Cocker Spaniel that was living in destitute circumstances. His personality was absolutely lovely. His pedigree was impeccable. He was the perfect addition to our family. We raised 3 beautiful litters. Now that we have grandchildren we are raising puppies again!
What makes your program special?
Our dogs are apart of the family. We follow Avidog, ENS and Puppy Culture protocols. We have specially handpicked dogs for health and temperament, and a lovely environment for them to excel. We offer sports, birdwatching, orchards to run in and play, swimming and watching fireflies from our front porch. We challenge our dogs with barrier challenges and other problem solving opportunities.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Willow, mom
Golden Retriever
About Willow
Willow is the perfect blend of athleticism, intelligence, and affection. She’s playful and lightning-fast, with an incredible eyesight that makes her a natural hunting companion. Despite her drive and speed, Willow has a gentle spirit. She loves her snuggles, often curling up at your feet for a nap after a good run.
As a mother, Willow is attentive and nurturing, enjoying her puppies and always taking her time to finish weaning. She’s confident yet balanced in temperament — never avoiding conflict, but always able to play respectfully with even the feistiest dogs. Her combination of keen instincts, loyalty, and loving personality makes her both an outstanding working partner and a devoted family dog.
Knightley, dad
Golden Retriever
About Knightley
"Meet Knightley, the charming European Golden Retriever whose love for life is as vibrant as his stunning golden coat. With a personality that shines even brighter than his thick mane, Knightley is a magnet for friends—both human and furry. His enthusiasm for life is contagious, whether he’s joyfully sprinting after his favorite fetch toy or splashing around in the water with sheer delight.
When it comes to playtime, Knightley is a pro! He joyfully wrestles with our new puppies, showing them how to have fun without a hint of conflict. His gentle nature and playful spirit turn every interaction into a game, proving that companionship and playfulness go hand in hand.
Often likened to a lion for his regal appearance, Knightley is both strong and graceful. But don’t let that rugged look fool you—this lovable goofball is also a huge softie who adores curling up for movie nights or breaking into a dance on his two hind legs, showcasing his playful Ukrainian roots. Whether he’s soaking up the sun, making waves, or snuggling with his favorite humans, Knightley embodies the perfect blend of adventure and affection!"
