Meet the breeder

I'm Michele H., the breeder behind Standard Poodles of Forest Lakes located in Big Rapids, MI. We are a small in-home breeding program dedicated to the betterment of Standard Poodles via testing & education. Our dams & sires are proven in conformation, fully health tested by DNA & OFA exams as well as genetic diversity; matched to produce structurally sound pups with excellent temperaments.

Q. & A. with Michele

  • Why did you start breeding?

My love for Standard Poodles evolved during our 4H years. My desire to improve the health & longevity of the breed while maintaining the best breed qualities led me to start my own breeding program. I am blessed to have 2 experienced mentors who bred & owned top poodles in the U.S. I've gained knowledge & training from these valuable mentorships in breeding/whelping/raising/showing and grooming.
  • What makes your program special?

We utilize Avidog & Puppy Culture programs to give our pups the best possible opportunity to be successful. Puppy buyers get 24/7 access via our PuppyCams & can even watch the birth if desired. Selection takes place in partnership with our clients after temperament testing at 7 weeks. Our pups have been very successful in their placements & many of our pups have become service & therapy dogs.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include apricot, black, brown, white, parti, phantom, and brindle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
