Golden Retriever
About Hugo
Hugo is a very active, hunky boy. Being born a day before Valentine's Day means he's just a big ole pile of love. He lives with a ball in his mouth and comes from a very active working line.

About Nellie
Nellie is sweet as pie. That is truly the only way to begin to describe her. If Nellie were a human, we definitely think she would be a nurse. She has a very caring heart and a goofy personality.

When searching for a golden retriever puppy I did an extensive amount of research. There are a lot of breeders out there masquerading as legit breeders with gorgeous websites who really are basically prolific backyard breeders rolling out multiple litters each year without appropriate health clearances. Jen of Sterling Retrievers is not among those. She is an excellent breeder. She check marks off all the boxes on paper, and in person she is highly professional and personable. Jen has all appropriate health clearances for her dogs. You can look up the dogs on the OFA website (https://ofa.org/) for yourself and see their hip and elbow clearances - listed as “good”. She also has appropriate cardiac and ophthalmic clearances, but at the time of this posting those have not yet been uploaded. (From my research, OFA seems to have a reputation for being slow to get records published.) Jen has placed a high emphasis on early socialization and exposure training. You can see from her facebook posts the level of effort she puts in to making the puppies feel safe and loved from an early age. The night time red lights, exposure to other animals like cats and dogs, vacuum cleaners, T.V. noises, music, ect…. Early desensitization and socialization prevents so so soooo many reactivity and behavioral problems further down the road. When you read through her website and facebook page you get a sense of who her dogs are. Hugo, sire of current Pinocchio litter, is a field golden who has the “heart of a Gryffindor” and loves to play fetch. Nellie, dam of current Pinocchio litter, an English cream, is described as a bit mischievous like a “Slytherin.” There is also a video I love on Facebook of Nellie being smart enough to open a baby gate and let out her puppies in the early morning hours. I knew Jen’s dogs would breed puppies with intelligence and personality and our puppy has not disappointed (: The puppy we picked out was the “orange collar.” So far I can say that he is loving, playful, courageous, and mischievous. On going to pick out a puppy I was able to meet both of the parents - very sweet, gentle, and friendly dogs. Jen also helped provide guidance on which puppy to choose based off our family needs and lifestyle. Sterling Retrievers breeds beautiful Goldens inside and out. Thank you Sterling Retrievers for giving us our gorgeous Duncan.
