I'm Sue S., the breeder behind Sterling’s Sweet Cotons located in Timber, OR. These are considered the royal dog of Madagascar. They are also known as clown dogs or antidepressant dogs. They are fun as well as funny to be around. They want to be around people so leaving them alone for long periods of time is not advised.
Q. & A. with Sue
Why did you start breeding?
It is hard to fall in love with a specific breed and not want to share that. This breed is also known as an antidepressant dog. Mental health is so important. Fewer meds, more pet joy. If I can help other to have what I have, I have made a difference in the lives of pets and their owners. Choosing the right families are key.
What makes your program special?
I have chosen my pets with care. I have had to spay a girl from my program before breeding her because, although she was beautiful, her health report was not up to my specifications. My dogs live with us. They are a huge part of our family. They are always pets first, and if timing and circumstances are just right, a litter will help provide joy to others as well. It is not just a business.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Sue was wonderful to work with! Within 20 minutes of sending our inquiry, we were on a FaceTime call discussing her sweet babies and their litter of puppies. She provided wonderful insight, well documented veterinary notes and AKC paperwork. Our sweet girl was well socialized, nearly puppy pad trained and sweet as pie. Sue has reached out several times since we brought our girl home to ensure she had a smooth transition. Would highly recommend working with her!
