I'm Jill D., the breeder behind Sunrise Miniature American Shepherds located in Delta, OH. I am a veterinarian that is passionate about breeding health tested puppies that I raise in my home. All of dogs live in my home with me and are pets first. I enjoy talking with potential families to learn about their lives and help them welcome a new puppy into their family.
Q. & A. with Jill
Why did you start breeding?
I always dreamed of owning Australian Shepherds as a child and one summer in veterinary school while on an externship with a veterinarian in Pennsylvania, I fell in love with her Miniature American Shepherd. It didn't take long before I had my first Miniature American and from that point on I was hooked on this breed of little dynamos.
What makes your program special?
My goal is to breed Miniature American Shepherds that can excel both in the performance and conformation ring, as well as be wonderful companions for American families. My Miniature Americans are my babies and live with me in my home as my companions before anything else. They sleep in my bed, go to work with me, and are constantly at my side. They stay with me for life and I enjoy training them in whatever disciplines they enjoy most.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black, red merle, and blue merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

MISSY, mom
Miniature American Shepherd
About MISSY
Missy is a lovely girl that I purchased to breed to Red after I owned her 3/4 sister who produced fabulous puppies with Red. Missy is happiest on my lap. She is extremely loyal and since she finished her AKC championship and retired from the show ring she has made herself very comfortable as a couch potato.

About Maizey

Lula, mom
Miniature American Shepherd
About Lula
Lula is a sweetheart. Her happiest place is near me on the couch in a pile of pillows. She has produced sweet and puppies that are on the smaller end of the breed standard in her previous litters.
Red, dad
Miniature American Shepherd
About Red
Red is a male that I bred and he has been an outstanding producer. He produces small to medium sized dogs with very laid back personalities. They love to snuggle, play with toys, and tend to have a lower drive for the breed. red loves absolutely any toy that squeaks and usually insists that the favorite squeaky toy of the day goes to bed with us each night. He is an outstanding boy that will always be my best man
